Real '80s: R&B
As a budget release, the triple-disc Real '80s: R&B isn't too bad, taking a random sampling of R&B hits from across the decade. Party tracks and ballads are put into equal consideration, so there's a rather broad assortment at play. Highlights include Tom Browne's "Funkin' for Jamaica," Locksmith's "Unlock the Funk," Evelyn "Champagne" King's "I'm in Love," 5 Star's "Let Me Be the One," Hall & Oates' "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)," and the Pointer Sisters' "Slow Hand." The Run-D.M.C./Aerosmith collaboration on "Walk This Way" and Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock's "It Takes Two" are a little out of place, a bit too raucous for their company.
