I bought both editons because this book is a very good and complete introductory course on making real world video. It first guide you choosing the right DV camcorders, step by step how to make video/movie and eventually how to publish the final production to the world depending on your budget. The book starts from current DV technology and then introduces various DV camcorders (how to use them effectively) depending whether you are consumer or prosumer or professional users. It provides price range for various camcorder class. It teaches you how to plan and write scripts for different video scenes (newscast, documentary or film). It also teaches different techniques of shooting video by cameras/comcorders (angles, views, lighting and audio control). The book provides you a lots of various examples and common-sense tecnquies of using lighting and audio equipments for making good video. For DV pre-production process, it talks about production crews and things you will need and do for different stages (including cost ranges). For DV post-production process, it shows how to edit/put all movie and audio footages into final movies and how to fix video/audio problems. The books take pains to describe what types of movie editing systems (computers, hardware equipments and software applications) available in the market depending on high-end, mid-range or low-end production budgets. It then shows how the final cut and movie copies are generated and delivered to the real world. I like the book because it gives me realistic information how DV movies are made by real equipments (video, audio, editing system, etc ...) that are availalbe in the current market. This book is great for serious beginning DV or movie producers.
