Reviewed by Tracy Slowiak for Readers' Favorite I think all of us have been faced with a time in our lives when we’ve felt ourselves drifting away from a friend. Sometimes even a really good friend. We see this happening in Really Good Friends, the first book in the Spin the Bottle series by author Daisy Jordan. In it we find the story of three great friends, Jill, Hillary and Lorylyn, as they are entering high school. Things seem to be going well for the group, cheer leading practice leads to an entrance into the popular crowd, and our protagonist, Jill, starts to date the popular and hunky Todd. But things don’t go as well as hoped with Todd, and then Jill finds that she and Hillary are growing apart. When Lorylyn’s new boyfriend causes even further division in the group, Jill starts to wonder if anything can bring her and her friends, once so important to each other, back together. Really Good Friends is a great look into the lives of young teenagers and the stresses and challenges they face. I don’t think there’s anything that is the cause of teenage angst more so than issues with relationships. Author Daisy Jordan does a good job of developing characters that the reader will truly care about, and describes situations in such a realistic manner that you feel you are actually there with the characters while they are happening. Really Good Friends is a book that would appeal to any reader who loves fiction for young adults, especially young women, or any reader that has dealt with difficult situations with friendships in their own life. I highly recommend this book, and look forward to reading the other books in this very promising series.
