This book was fantastical! It already has me using the colorful expressions of the heroine! I read this within a matter of hours and it will definetely stick with me for a long time. The main character was bumbling but infinetely sweet and would have any girl swooning! Good read, good read...........

5 "still smiling, hours after reading" stars I don't even know where to start, there were so many things about this book that I loved. This story was laugh out loud, tears in your eyes funny in places. It was goofy grin sweet. There was just enough angst and drama to make it interesting, but not enough to be frustrating. Lovable characters, well written, good pace...for me, it was perfection. I loved Hayley. She was funny, smart, and quick-witted. She was strong, and at the same time, very vulnerable. Brody was hilarious! I loved that this book was written entirely from his point of view. He was just perfect. He was sweet and funny, and he cared about the people in his life. I loved that he was just as nervous and afraid as Hayley was, that he was insecure about her feelings for him. This story had THE BEST chapter I've ever read. Absolutely hilarious! That would be the first kiss chapter. OMGosh, I died laughing. Really, if you enjoy books that make you laugh, this one is definitely for you. Highly recommend!!

This was a cute book overall, but it was sort of offensive in places. Maybe it was because it was told from a teenage boys point of view. He was sort of crude in places, and I was very relieved when he changed his language because Hayley didn’t like the way he talked. There was also a lot of sexuality and reference to sex in it. I know that’s the “norm” for kids these days. (makes me sound like an old prude, but I guess I am) I don’t think it needed all the reference to sex and that the kids in it seemed to treat a sexual relationship as so casual and as something not important. The things I liked about this were how Brody could see all the good qualities in Hayley. How Hayley was struggling with her own self image and that Brody could see past the whole “you have to be model perfect” image so many girls struggle with. I liked the set up in the book, the Chapter headings cracked me up a lot of the time. I liked how it came gradually for Brody to realize why he was falling for Hayley, and how even though he was trying to prove he liked her, he still screwed up and made mistakes along the way. It seemed like a very real portrayal of a true to life situation.

An interesting take on romantic YA fiction, told entirely from the male POV. I was a bit skeptical at first. I have to admit, the title is a bit off-putting. I gave it a chance and then couldn't put it down. It is humorous and heartbreaking all at the same time. Without being preachy, it hits home about positive body image. I have to say, I love that the hot guy goes for the unlikely girl, and that he sees her as nothing but gorgeous. A cute read!

Amazing book. It reminds you that we see ourselves so much differently than other people see us. I think everyone can relate to Hayley.

This was a cute book but I have to agree with the one reviewer that said it was a bit offensive in some places. Also I thought that they jumped into the physical side of their relationship too quickly. That being said, I enjoyed reading this book and seeing how they fell in love. It sent appositive message that you should never judge a book by its cover and that true love can be found in unexpected places.

~Reviewed by SUZANNE & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Brody has fallen for his scumbag brother’s ex-girlfriend, but he can’t seem to find a way to tell her, so he enlists Hayley, the school matchmaker to help him. But Brody soon realises that the quirky funny Hayley is the one he really wants, he just needs to get her past her fixation on her self imposed title of the FFF; the funny fat friend. I am not a fan of the young adult genre, especially if it is centred around a romance, the main characters drive me insane and remind why I avoid all things teenager and whiny. But, I have found an exception to my avoid-YA-at-all-costs rule as I really loved this book. It was funny, quirky and sweet with a main couple who I really liked. I also liked that it was a little different as it is told entirely from Brody’s POV, it was interesting to see everything through the guy’s eyes for a change. And damn, was Brody gorgeous inside and out, funny, sweet, caring, he was almost a little too perfect; however, he made for good book candy. Hayley was in the ever increasing group of quirky heroines; she also had a few self esteem and body issues making her easy to identify with. Together they were a wonderful couple with great chemistry as they bond together really quickly, especially as Brody realises very quickly that it is Hayley he wants and not his brother’s ex. Reasons I fell for the Funny Fat Friend was a great book and I am glad I gave it a chance; I loved the characters and the story, it was uncomplicated but a really great feel good read.
