I liked the story and the characters. It's a fun read however I always feel that the author is trying to scam the reader for more money when they don't finish the book. Just finish the book and sell it as a whole book not two parts. I doubt I'll remember in a month to buy the second half of the story or if I even want to.

It is no secret that I love Vi and Penelope. Individually and when they co write. Each and every book I swear out does the one before it, and how that is even possible I will never know because from the very beginning everything they have penned has been pure gold!! I absolutely love Rush. He is the man of everyone’s dreams. Wealthy, but humble about it, sexy as sin, smart, and a heart made of solid gold. He is the perfect balance between a badass and a sweetheart. No wonder Gia fell head over heals. I did too! Gia, she is quite the character. She too has that great balance between sassy and classy. She is kind, caring, and deserves the best life has to offer her. No wonder Rush is all in knots over her. Vi and Penelope thru a HUGE twist in this story right at the end, so fair warning, cliffy ahead. And when I say, a HUGe twist, I am not freaking kidding. My heart is still having palpitations!!! I don’t know how I can wait until next month to know what comes next. But….alas, I must. As with any Vi or Penelope book, you must read Rebel Heir!! Must!!!!

Holy cliffhanger!!! Prepare yourself for an angsty and HOT read people. I loved this book. Ward and Keeland can basically write anything and it will be amazing. Gia is an aspiring writer. She just secured an advance on the romance book she's writing. So to finish her book Gia rents a beach house at the Hamptons so she can get to work. At the beginning of Rebel Heir Gia gets a call from her friend begging her to cover her bartending shift due to a family emergency. Gia knows nothing about being a bartender but her friend needs her so off she goes. How hard could it be? Well.....Gia basically sucks at it. Enter Rush. He walks into his bar and sees a stunningly beautiful woman behind the bar. A stunningly beautiful woman that he does not know. From the first conversation with Gia, Rush knows he's in trouble. Gia has a smart mouth and he is NOT used to people speaking to him like she does. Only problem......once Ruch decides to hire Gia she's off limits. He has a strict rule. Don't get involved with employees. What is Rush going to do with this amazing beautiful woman he can't touch? The physical attraction between Gia and Rush is undeniable. Let's face it....rules are meant to be broken.....right? Reviewed by: Heather S. ***************************************************************************** The highs, the lows and everything in between....relationships aren’t usually that much of a rollercoaster, but when you have Gia and Rush.....strap yourself in for one crazy ride!!!! I have always been intrigued with how two authors can come together as one and produce a story that in all honesty you wouldn’t know was written by two individual persons. Ms. Ward and Ms. Keeland continue to be amazing writers; put them together....you’ve got a powerhouse of a writing team. Reviewed by: Dana D.

I was scrolling through Instagram in need of a break from crazy exams when I saw Penelope Ward post about this new release. I have loved all of the books she's written, and I knew it was just what I needed to take my mind off of everything. I was laughing out loud from the beginning, crying towards the end, and devouring at every opportunity! Just like the rest of their novels, it doesn't disappoint. Comedy, romance, and just enough drama to make you gasp. These characters pull you in, the emotions transferring through you as you read. The end will leave you reeling for book two which luckily comes out May 22, 2018! But Man, I wish I had it right now!!! :) I can't wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds!

I've got a RUSH for Rush! Man oh man did I fall for him as soon as he was introduced in this book. He is a mystery for sure which while reading I was excited and giddy on finding out what makes him Rush. Gia is a woman I was able to relate to of trying to produce a book that hasn't be able to form because real life is not giving any inspiration, until she meets Rush. I enjoyed the build up of these two characters getting to know one another, their sassy jabs back and forth with each other, their instant attraction that is held back because of the boss/employee relationship. Also enjoyed that we get a good background of these characters family and friends. Get ready to laugh, gush, fall in love, a good dose of angst & chemistry that will sizzle you into a hot mess. I can't wait to find out if Gia & Rush can make a relationship work between them or if finding out the truth about one another will break them apart.

Rebel Heir is the first book in Vi Keeland's and Penelope Ward's latest series. NO SPOILERS HERE but it's actually a duology and ends on a cliffy! Oh the drama! Vi and Pen both do this well on their own but they seem to have got creating emotional and sexy drama down pat when the collaborate! Gia and Rush have an instant spark and hot chemistry but their employee/boss situation puts a dampener on any potential romance between them (or does it) so they form a fun friendship full of flirty banter and real solidarity. The plot is full of jokes and flirty banter. I loved Rush's combination of moody bad boy and rich tycoon - he pulls it off well. Gia is all kinds of sassy. The sunbathing scene made me laugh because I actually have a friend who did something similar. I really liked them together and was annoyed when they were thrown one heck of a curveball. Did I predict certain events? Yes. Did it tamper my enjoyment of the story? All the no! As for that ending. Vi and Pen you naughty ladies...! 4 Stars in my Sky! I received a review copy

Rebel Heir by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward is the first book in their brand new, co-written Rush Series Duet . Told in dual POV between Rush and Gia - this book is yet another amazing, engaging, and fabulous story from two of my favorite authors. Gia is an aspiring author with a contract waiting to be fulfilled. After winning a competition for the first three chapters of a book she rents a summer share in the Hamptons, spending her advance from the publishers, and hopes to be inspired to finish the story. Covering as bartender at a local bar called The Heights for her friend and roommate who has a family emergency she rapidly learns that she is not cut out for bartending and that her friends boss is a jerk. Rush is beyond annoyed with this random woman working at his bar, messing up drink orders, back-talking the customers and charging wrong prices. Never mind he didn't even hire her. Poised to fire her AND her friend he ends up giving her a job there as a hostess and giving her a ride home that night. The draw to be around Gia is something he doesn't understand and apparently cannot fight. The rapid friendship between Rush and Gia is natural and sincere and their attraction to each other is palpable. The progression towards more is heartwarming, despite the hiccup along the way. But the cliffhanger ending could potentially be a deal-breaker for Rush. We will find out in Rebel Heart which releases on May 22, 2018. Enjoy!

Rebel Heir by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward is a sensational story, and a reminder of what a dynamite team these two authors make! Rush is a man of few words and has a soul filled with fire. Rush has been through a lot in his twenty something years, things that could have easily brought him down. Rush takes the negativity that life has thrown at him and turns it into positive and smart business moves. Not one to get too involved with anyone and anything emotionally, Rush is surprised that one of the most positive things to happen in his life is crossing paths with Gia. Gia has a plan for herself, and gets away to work her way toward it. Feeling somewhat stuck, she steps out of her own way and takes on a job where she runs into Rush, heading straight into the spray of sparks that Bad Boy Rush exudes. Rush and Gia share a camaraderie so special and spunky that they long to be around each other often. Gia begins to see there is more to Rush than meets the eye. A genuine friendship blossoms between the rough and the romantic, and as Rush and Gia begin to acknowledge their obvious attraction and immediate connection, they ponder what might happen if they give themselves a real chance at love. Of course there are hurdles along the way, as well as spectacular supporting friends and family characters that make you laugh heartily, yell and cheer! There is more to this fantastic story, and I for one am glad, because there is no way that I am ready to be done with Rush and Gia!!! I am already looking forward to Rebel Heart! Congratulations, Penelope and Vi! I see another victory in the pages for you both!!

Holy Chunky Monkey—what a way to leave a girl hanging! I need that next book stat! I think I produced twice as much heartbeats just in that last chapter alone. I may have had a tiny bit of an inkling about that huge twist in the end, but man, that didn’t even take away an ounce of the shock and emotions and a little bit of fear that washed through me. I feel like my heart was just left high up in the air and won’t be able to come back down until I get the second half of this magnificently compelling story. It’s not very often that I get equally smitten with both the hero and heroine of a book. But Gia astounded me. I loved her personality, perseverance and independence. I loved that she’s writing a romance novel set in the Hamptons and is experiencing writer’s block just like any other person who’s new in the business. She’s real. She’s relatable. And I truly enjoyed her sass, wit and sweetness. She’s just so easy to love. Especially when you see how she handled dealing with a guy like Rush and got through his walls. Rush isn't your typical rich bad boy. He may own multiple properties at the Hamptons and has the world at his fingertips, but there isn’t one arrogant bone in his body. A whole lot of broody and cocky, maybe. But not arrogant. He won’t boast and slap his money on your face. He’s just not that kind of guy. Rush is the absolute epitome of ruggedly handsome and rough around the edges, but he's also a big softy and sweetheart deep inside. He managed to outshine all the other book boyfriends I’ve read about in the past. He was an alpha male in every sense of the word and he OWNED it. But it’s not just that—he also took kindheartedness, loyalty and protectiveness to a whole other level. Now this... THIS is what you call a perfect MAN. I’m in love. I’m enamored. I’m complete and utterly riveted by this man. This author collaboration is just absolutely UNSTOPPABLE! The books they’ve written individually are already brilliant and enthralling as it is. But when they write together and produce books like these? They’re unquestionably a force to be reckoned with. You’ll live for every single page, every single chapter and every single moment in this book. Hell, I just want to keep rereading it until Rebel Heart comes out next month. Rebel Heir is most certainly unputdownable—it has that signature heart and heat and humor and tension we get from Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. It’ll engulf you with so much feels and hook you right from the first page. And I know that this may just be the first half of the story, but I can already say that this book, this story has already surpassed every other book these two authors have co-written. And that’s definitely saying something. Hold on to your hearts and panties and ovaries. And be ready for this Rebel Heir. There’s going to be so much more to come in the next book—that’s for sure. P. S. You guys can fight over everybody else, but this sexy, big-hearted butt burglar is mine. Mine. MINE. M-I-N-E. Keep away. I’m staking my claim. Just saying. ;)

4.25 stars--heart breaking, powerful, engrossing 4.25 stars--REBEL HEIR is the first instalment in the contemporary adult THE RUSH SERIES erotic, romance duology co-authored by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. This is bar owner and businessman Heathcliff ‘Rush’ Rushmore, and romance author/bar hostess Gia Mirabelli’s story line. Told from dual first person perspectives (Rush and Gia) REBEL HEIR follows the forbidden relationship between twenty-nine year old heir and business owner Heathcliff ‘Rush’ Rushmore, and wanna-be romance author / bar hostess Gia Mirabelli. Trying to help out a friend Gia finds herself hopelessly out of her element behind the bar at The Heights, a busy and popular hot spot. But all does not go according to plans when the hot, tattooed and sexy owner discovers Gia is working under false pretenses. Enter bar owner Rush, and the man with whom Gia will fall in love. What ensues is the slow building, relationship between Gia and Rush, and the potential fall-out as Rush refuses to get involved with one of his employees, and Gia’s recent past makes an unexpected and shocking appearance. Gia Mirabelli is a no-nonsense kinda girl who speaks her mind and goes for what she wants, and Gia wants her new employer Rush, but Rush has a no-dating policy where it concerns…everyone. A one-night stand kinda guy, Rush’s attraction to Gia is palpable but he refuses to give in to his heart’s demands. As Rush struggles with his desire for Gia, the ongoing battles with his extended family begin to encroach on his beliefs and ideals. The relationship between Gia and Rush is one of immediate attraction but Rush refuses to act on his attraction believing he is incapable of love or any kind of permanent commitment. Gia has been burned by her most recent one-night stand, a memory that continues to haunt our heroine to this very day. The $ex scenes are limited but sexual play is abundant and intense. I will add that the use of a certain four-letter word, I find vulgar, is quite pervasive- the heroine also comments on her dislike of the word. The secondary and supporting characters are colorful and energetic. We are introduced to Gia’s roommate and best friend Riley; her father NYPD police officer tony Mirabelli ; Rush’s half-brother Elliot, and his father Gerald Horvath; and his mother Melody Rushmore. REBEL HEIR is a heart breaking and animated story line with strong characters. The premise is powerful and engrossing; the characters are spirited and realistic; the romance is sassy, sexy and captivating. There are moments of revelation and inspiration; family and pain; romance and love. REBEL HEIR ends on a cliffhanger-you have been warned!
