I would recommend leaving yourself lots of time because once you start reading, you won't want to put it down till your finished. Turn off your cell phones, tv's, stereos (do we still have those things), IPOD's etc. and buckle up your seat belt. Put your seat in an upright position and hold on to your arm rests.

Two years have passed since information technology guru Devin Guthrie last saw his beloved Captain Makaiden "Kaidee" Griggs, a widow. Although her being his family yacht pilot makes her unacceptable as his wife because Devin would have to defy J.M. his powerful father and CEO of Guthrie Global Systems. Devin also knows he still loves her. He is unhappy when his martinet father orders him to marry into another prominent family as damage control. Devin's older brother former admiral Philip defected to the Alliance (see Hope's Folly) and is openly rebelling against J.M. and the Empire. However, when Devin's nineteen years old nephew Trip vanishes, Devin investigates hoping to find the teen before he is hurt. Devin learns the lad's bodyguard was murdered and Trip barely escaped. He follows his fleeing relative to Dock Station Five where he encounters Kaidee and a perilous scenario in which apparently Empire and Alliance forces seek his nephew and him dead or alive. Rebels and Lovers is a superb action-packed romantic suspense science fiction thriller. The taut story line never slows down from the moment Devin tastes a bit of freedom and adventure in his desperate pursuit to bring his nephew home safe. Readers will appreciate Linnea Sinclair's strong entry as the dangerous suspense thriller starring a strong lead couple makes for an astounding tale. Harriet Klausner

Fairly classic Sinclair. I enjoyed the romance, although it jumps from not happening to happening quite quickly. At one point I looked at the page number I was on and was surprised that I'd gotten so far in the book with so few big plot points, but I enjoy the characters and emotions more than the plot in her books, so it wasn't with dissatisfaction.

Not as good as the other books of Sinclair that I've read. For me it moved too slowly. And somehow the story did not seem as full as the other books in the series, following from Gabriel's Ghost. I'm not sure why it was a little disappointing.

Devin Guthrie isn't the livewire of the family. He's more the staid, dependable numbers guy. But when his nephew disappears leaving a murdered bodyguard, and his family's response is to pressure him to marry for political reasons, he's had enough. And when he sees Captain Makaiden Griggs again he realizes slipping away to track down nephew Trip may be the best decision he's ever made. The further adventures of the Guthrie family - if you haven't already read Gabriel's Ghost, Shades of Dark and Hope's Folly it may make more sense to start there, but this is enough of a standalone for solo reading should the earlier books not be available.

I love Linnea Sinclair. Well written and very believable dialogue. I can get in to my mental room and let the action roll past! When I have nothing else to read, this book ends up being my go to book.

When Devin Guthrie's nephew, Trip, disappears, Devin goes after the youth. He doesn't expect to run into pilot Kaidee Griggs who used to work for his wealthy family's corporation. He'd always admired her, but she was married back then. They locate Trip at the same time as some assassins, and the chase begins. The three of them team up to escape their mutual enemies. More is at stake than just a rich kid being taken for ransom. Betrayal, jealousy, and greed fuel a dastardly plot that originates where none of them would expect. As Kaidee, now a widow, helps Devin escape, she yields to a passion she'd only dreamed of before. At last, they can both follow their hearts, but how long will they have together before the traitors capture them? Linnea Sinclair's stories leave you on the edge of your seat, and her detailed world building will make you wish you were there. You'll root for these characters to find a happy ending. An exciting ride!

This is the fourth part of the Dock 5 series. Overall this story dragged for me. It took probably a third of the story before Devin catches up to Kaidee. Then the majority of the rest was fleeing up and down the levels on Dock 5. This time I was able to figure out who was behind everything almost right away and then it felt so obvious that I was suprised the characters couldn't get it. One thing I really did like was that Kaidee and Devin already had a relationship so it wasn't like the fell in love in five days, while fleeing from the bad guys. They had a nice spark but the rest of the story was just flat. The books seem to keep dancing around the Alliance and Tage and I'm wondering if and when the next books will get into that storyline more.

I have read all Linnea Sinclair's books and have enjoyed every one of them. Her characters and storyline draw you in to that other world that is much like our own especially with war and how it touches us all. I look forward to the next episode as I want to know how the Guthries and Sullivans come through the conflict. Hopefully the bad guys will get eaten by a Jukor!

It just isn't what I wanted out of the fourth book in the Dock 5 Universe series. I liked the characters, but their story wasn't very compelling. It started out well -- Devin had a serious case of unrequited love going for Makaidan, but... it just sort of fizzled. Or maybe limped along is a better description. The reader knows that Kaidee and Devin are going to end up together, and we know he is really hung up on her, but we never see her fall in love with him. It's more like she falls in line with the plot, rather than drives it. I gave it three stars, however, because the story (aside from the romance aspect) was fairly engrossing, and because it tied into the rest of the series in a way that worked for me. I like the ending largely because of what happens with the other characters in the Dock 5 Universe, so that accounts for some of the rating. On the other hand, I'm a sucker for unrequited love, so that was a winner for me right off the bat. And I love Linnea Sinclair. I just didn't think this book was one of her better efforts.
