Recalculating: An eShort Story by Jennifer Weiner

After Maureen's husband dies, she imagines that the years of abuse are over, but while looking for the Halloween decorations in the attic, Maureen finds a gift-wrapped GPS with her name on the box: an early birthday present from her late husband. When the voice from the machine starts giving her sinister directions, she learns that sometimes the dead are restless . . . and she's locked in a battle not just for her life but for her soul.

I liked the story but did not care for the ending.

It started out well, the climax was interesting, and the conclusion was ridiculous.

A great short story which keeps you pulled into the mystery and humor. (Great for Halloween)! Since some GPS will grind on your nerves, thought it was quirky and funny. Jennifer Weiner is an awesome author which always steps outside the box – love the short e-stories and recommend!

If you like a psycho horror thriller quick read this is well written and chilling at points. Sinister and downright evil at others, I would have liked a bit more development of the story a lot was left to be assumed. I was expecting something fun and thoughtful so this disturbed me but it was a good story. Just not for me.

I love jennifer weiner but this short story was strange think it needed to be more develop and be a novel looked more like notes for a novel than a short story could have been more developed

Don't read it late at night or while home alone! Not your typical Jennifer Weiner

I guess it was an okay story, and I really can't explain why it bothered me a bit without spoiling it for you, so I won't. But really it was all pretty predictable and horrific. I did not feel for the protagonist at all, and in the end I don't think there was one redeeming character. On the other hand, I read the whole thing, it's a quick read and I still didn't just delete it like I could have. So it must have caught me in some way. It's not a waste of time to skim through it as long as it remains free!
