Lalo the lamb wants to have a bright sweater like the one the shepherd boy wears. But Lalo has a hard time washing, spinning and dyeing his own wool. Both Lalo and the boy understand the true meaning of "knit"--or bring together--and the two share a special bond. Color illustrations throughout.

I made sure that I gave a copy of Red Berry Wool to the local Waldorf School for young children. I believe the story and pictures of the adventuresome lamb and the helpful boy reflect a philosophy of caring and humorous mistakes in understanding that are resolved with love and kindness. Books that reflect these values are sorely needed in our confusing and angry society. The phrasing is gentle, kindly and amusing. The pictures fit the muted adventures perfectly. I also believe it to be a story to read over and over again without becoming weary of it...a good teacher/parent/child book. Virginia H. Graham classroom instructor
