Red Flags, by Juris Jurjevics is an exceptional book. The author has the authenticity of a man who actually served in the Vietnam War. His  characters speak with dialog used only by US Army soldiers of that era.  But this book is much more than a war story. It' also exposes  the corruption that angers a savvy Army CID (Criminal  Investigation Division) cop working undercover. He learns that South Vietnamese Army officers and politicians are collaborating with the Viet Cong in a huge narcotics business that makes both sides rich. Caught in the middle are an undermanned American contingent and the Montagnard tribes who hate the Vietnamese.Red Flags therefore includes a thriller within a military history fiction book, a genuine gem.

Enjoyed the book. The pace was fast enough that I didn't get bored with background noise.

A good solid read on another aspect of our involvement in Southeast Asia.

Although there are a few weaknesses, I highly recommend this book! This novel paints a clearer, more well rounded picture of the good, the bad,& the ugly of the Vietnam "WAR" than other books have done. Which also means that the reader feels just as wounded, angry, confused, and frustrated as real Vietnam veterans feel. by aj west
