At the start of this X-rated crime novel from Risqué (The Sweetest Taboo), an unidentified woman bent on revenge is hiding in a closet in an apartment that the sex-addicted mayor of New York City, Kenyatta Smith, uses for trysts. The woman shoots Eve Johnson, a high-priced prostitute, while Eve and Smith are engaged in sex. The killer has just enough time to escape unseen before the oblivious Smith realizes he's cuddling a corpse. Since Smith ensures that the body disappears, the FBI becomes involved in what's treated as a missing persons case. A steamy affair develops between FBI special agent Blessing Shield and Eve's employer, Collyn Bazemore, who operates an exclusive call-girl business, Red Light Special. Was it Smith's neglected, long-suffering wife, Monday, who murdered Eve? Or did one of Smith's many disgruntled lovers pull the trigger? Some readers may have a tough time identifying with the selfish, abusive Smith. Others may wish Risqué had focused more on political intrigue and less on bedroom play. I love all of her books especially Sweetest Taboo. Hope you will coming out soon with more wonderful work!
I fallen in love with this book. Despite the short amount of pages, but the book was awesome. iT IS FULL OF SURPRISES I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE.
Kenyatta Smith is a whorish, despicable man who just happens to be the Mayor of New York City. He's good-looking, intellectual and oh so sexy. Kenyatta is also a sex fiend who beds as many women as he can. When he finds himself in the midst of a "murder", he strives to remain in control and King of New York, by all means necessary.
The mayor's beautiful wife, Monday, is sick and tired of being sick and tired. She's constantly reminded of Kenyatta's dirty deeds. Yet, she has a few skeletons in her closet. Now bedding the handsome and laid back Mehki, Monday struggles with standing by her disloyal husband or moving onto bigger and better things.
Collyn Bazemore is a gorgeous and prosperous madam who has a thang for Blessing Shields. He's everything she could want in a man, extremely attractive and attentive. Blessing is equally infatuated with Collyn but little does she know, he's not the man he claims to be.
I'm a huge fan of Risqué. However, I must admit that I truly miss the humor, which she brilliantly displayed in her first book. Nonetheless, "Red Light Special" is smoldering and deserving of its accolades. A winning combination of erotica and suspense.
Must read along with THE SWEETEST TABOO AND SMOOTH OPERTOR!
I loved this book i was kinda disappointed on the number of pages but don't let that discourage you this book was beautifully written. there was some funny parts but most of the secrets are jaw dropping to say the least. The love scenes are to die for.Ii thought she could not top the Sweetest Taboo but this is one of the best books i've read in a while. she also has alot of references to pop culture that i loved. All the character's are well written my favorites ware Blessing and Collyn there story along with Monday's and Kenyatta's drama kept me reading all day until i finished. and like the cover says have a man nearby or a cold shower waiting because risque writing is very vivid to say the least
