Well Wendy... you really did it this time! I liked the first book in this series "Come the Shadows" but I really loved this one! I don't know if I was just into it more and knew the characters better or if The Author "did her homework" and just wrote a better feeling book. I say better feeling because this book seemed to me to have more feeling. It was more "my kind of book". While still being very much a mystery, it also had a "Human interest/Woman's Fiction" feel to it with lots of suspense. I liked that! I really felt like I stepped into their lives and knew what they were going through, knew what they were "feeling" on a day to day basis. It wasn't just all facts about the mystery it was a story about their lives and how everything effected them. I liked Laura in the first book but I really loved her in this book! What a great strong female character she is (but not overdone). I thought her husband was a little macho and too over-protective at times, but that's how men are! I also thought it was great how Laura became friends with the abused neighbor, tried to help her and how that all fit into the story. The Author used the characters very well, nicely thought out. I also liked that it was very clean - no swearing or graphic sex, so - nice for everyone to read! Ahhh now I can't wait for the third one!

Another 5-star winner from Wendy L. Young! Wendy L. Young has written another winner with RED SKY WARNING, the second book in the Campbell Creek mysteries. Will Harmon is now the sheriff of Campbell Creek and Laura is the mayor. Both are finding in a challenge to adjust to their new roles. Will's job as an administrator is a grind and Laura, in her new role as a working mom, can't go out without fielding questions and complaints, from potholes to parks. A hit -and-run starts the roller coaster page turner, and you'll want to snag every available free minute to keep reading! In addition to the tightly woven plot that builds on the storyline in COME THE SHADOWS, the first book in the series, Wendy L. Young has also given us robust, believable characters with depth and nuance. In this book, we see more of the easy-going, loving relationship between Will and Laura, but are also invited into Laura's world. She's best friend to Amanda, married to Officer Ricky Rogers, right-hand man to Will. While Laura does her best to support Amanda during a difficult time, she also befriends her new neighbor, a ghost of a woman in an abusive relationship. In RED SKY WARNING, Wendy L. Young has perfected the art of the mystery, with a deft balance of plot and characters. You won't put this book down and you might even find yourself a tiny bit disappointed when you reach the conclusion and have to say goodbye to Will, Laura, Ricky, and Amanda. But lucky for us, Ms. Young is working on the third book in the series, and we'll soon be able to jump back into the life of Campbell Creek, North Carolina.

Wow! This book had me begging for more! From the very beginning, the book is filled with suspense. You don't want to miss reading the sequel to Come the Shadows. With each page, you beg for more! More of Laura and Will, Ricky and Amanda, and most importantly, more of what is ACTUALLY going on in Campbell Creek! ***May contain spoilers if you haven't read the first book in the series from here on out.*** The book begins with Laura Harmon as mayor and her husband, Will, as Sheriff. Laura is in a hit and run and from then on out the threats against her escalate. It is a search to find out who is behind the threats, and if you think you know who is threatening her, think again! There are more twists and turns along the road as we're told more about Mitchell Devon and his associates and what's really gone on since the developments to Campbell Creek came along.

As with book 1, Come the Shadows, this book was easy to slide right in and feel right at home. Red Sky Warning was more then a continuation of a series, it was like the next chapter in my own families life. I love the characters, adore the relationships they share and can relate to the good times and bad. Ms. Young does a wonderful job with her writing, keeping it smooth and descriptive without bogging it down. Her storyline moves gracefully and all the loose ends get tied up in a nice neat bow at the end. I understand there will be a third book in the series and I can't wait to read it and continue the journey in Campbell Creek. Well Done Ms. Young... I really enjoy your work.

This is a new author for me and I find her story to be the right mix of suspense and dialogue. I enjoyed getting to know the main characters--they come across as real people, not perfect. I also enjoyed the implied romance without having it spelled out in graphic detail.

I loved the way the story of Will and Laura continues in this sequel to "Come The Shadows". The new characters in Will and Laura's lives add new interest too. Don't people come and go in our real lives? I enjoyed the way the author brings in new people to deepen the story. Yes, she left us some mysteries at the end. So I, for one, will be looking forward to the sequel to this book too.

Great books ,both of them were suspense filled and I really enjoyed this author. However, I had alot of trouble with chapters and pages being out of sync! Nook users may have to use the "go to page" option in order for the storyline to be able to be read cohesively. Maybe BN should check out. But still great author, great stories and can't wait to read third book!

I loved this book. I would love to read the 3rd one. This book picked up where the last one left off. Will is now the town sheriff and Laura is the Mayor. I love how Will was eager to find out who was threatening his wife yet, did it while upholding the law. He did not let his connections let him break the law. This book left some questions though that I hope are answered in the 3rd book. I knew one early on that something was up with the next door neighbor. I did not see details of that neighbor coming though. I think Laura and Will need a vacation far far away.

This story was so bland. I was turning the pages, not out of excitment, but to get to the last page, before I decided to end it myself. The main characters were uninteresting, they had no personalities. I didn't grasp what the story was about. It didn't give any real drama to the events and what connection some of the characters had. This is the first book that I have read by this author, and as the saying goes "You can't tell a book by it's cover", in this case, you can't tell a book by it's good reviews and a five and a half star rating!
