The Redeemer by Linda Rios Brook

As the final installment in the series that began with Lucifer’s Flood, Linda Rios Brook’s The Redeemer finds ancient language expert Samantha Yale translating a final batch of ancient scrolls written by a fallen angel. This volume of writings covers the demon’s eyewitness accounts of biblical events that cover the life of Jesus. In the process we also discover the mysterious Mr. Wonk’s true identity and learn an amazing secret that Samantha has been keeping.

This is a story about rebellion and consequences. It is about demonic strategy to disrupt and destroy the people of God. But ultimately it is a story about the unrelenting love, grace, mercy, and determination of a sovereign God in pursuit of His errant children.

Highly recommended!!! I have all 4 in the series, it puts the Old Testament into easy reading, like a bible story for adults! My only hope is that Ms.Brooks will do the same for the New Testament! I can put it in the same category as The Left Behind Series, but taken from a Reluctant Demons view. What makes this such great reading is that Ms.Brook mixes in humor so that the reader will not become "bored" with the book! Once I picked up the 1st book in the series it was hard to put down! Do yourselves a great favor, get all 4 series and start out your summer reading!

Linda Rios Brook is a captivating, extraordinary Christian Fiction author, and one of my two favorites in the genre, right next to Francine Rivers. The Redeemer is a phenomenal ending to the Reluctant Demon series. I laughed, I cried, and I couldn't put the book down! The little nameless fallen angel follows Jesus through His ministries, death, and resurrection, all while discovering God's infinite mercy and grace. It brings a whole new life to the personas of Jesus and His disciples. This book made me think of The New Testament in a refreshing, new way, while still keeping to Biblical truths. It is truly a must read!! Please start with Lucifer's Flood, The Deliverer, then The King, THEN The Redeemer. DO NOT only read the final book in ANY series, and then review the final book before you understand the story! That would just be silly!

All of the Reluctant Demon Diaries are fantastic. You feel sorry for the littl demon that was an Angel that lost his way. The Redeemer is the best way to end the series. I just hope Linda Brook wtites another in this series. Really love these books.

I have enjoyed reading all of the Reluctant Demon Diaries. I felt the author knew the "real" story and the demon's point of view was fun.

I loved the first three books in this series, but this one left me feeling very disappointed. The author had such an opportunity to portray the conflicting elements of good/evil, temptation/strength, victory/defeat. What it really felt like was a rendering of how stupid and shallow all the disciples but Judas were. The characterization was not what it was in the other books. I had so looked forward to this installment of the series, but it read like a book written by someone in hurry to get it over with and move on to the next project.

I have read all four in the series and I could not put any of them down. What an amazing perspective on the bible as told through the eyes of this reluctant demon. I have passed these books on to my friends and family and they too were enthralled. What an amazing writer and wonderful series of books. I would recommend this book to anyone. I can assure you you will not be disappointed.

The Redeemer by Linda Rios Brook is the fourth book in the Reluctant Demon series. We have followed our unnamed protagonist through the previous three books as he "accidentally" falls from heaven with the rest of the demons when Lucifer rebels against God and then is assigned by Satan to watch over the Jewish people and report back to the devil about God's dealing with them. Our "hero" has watched Adam and Even get the boot from Eden, Moses lead the Israelites out of Egypt, and King David unite the twelve tribes together in peace under his rule. While observing the humans, he has come to understand much of how they think, and he's spent an enormous amount of time trying to compile a solid argument to someday present to God for his repentance. In The Redeemer, even Satan is shaken when he discovers that Adonai has disappeared from second heaven and that the Messiah has been born on earth. The reluctant demon quickly figures out that Adonai has left heaven to be born on earth as Jesus, the Messiah, but he can't figure out what blood has to do with anything and why is Satan so insistent that Jesus die any way BUT on the cross. He is present from Christ's birth to his baptism to his crucifixion and along the way, he comes to fall in love with this Messiah who refuses to listen to his wisdom but sometimes gives the slightest hint that He knows the demon is there. Brook has done a magnificent job of reinterpreting first the Old Testament and here the Gospels in a fresh way through the eyes of a new witness who has an unusual perspective on things. Brook offers readers unfamiliar with the Bible an intriguing way understanding it, and for those who have heard these stories again and again, she gives new life. There is also a modern day element to the story as the demon's scrolls are discovered and forces jockey for control of them, and it appears that there may be a sequel based on this. I hope so. I'm not ready yet to say good-bye to our hapless, often hopeless, cowardly yet trustworthy hero who retells these familiar stories with humor while making them deeply personal through his desire for redemption.

The Redeemer, fourth novel in the Reluctant Demon Diary series, explodes with ancient truths in a fictional scenario. Sometimes its difficult to remember this didn't really happen because Dr. Brook weaves her extensive knowledge of Biblical history so convincingly throughout the narrative. It is one of the main reasons I enjoyed this book so much. Quoting from ancient scrolls being translated by my favorite character, Samantha Yale, the reader is lovingly transported back centuries in time to witness world changing events through the eyes of the narrator. Of course that narrator is the reluctant demon, Wonk Eman, who throughout the Reluctant Demon Diaries has put his unique otherworldly spin on things. At a time in our own history when much of society is looking for spiritual answers, The Redeemer presents some very compelling revelations about God, grace, love and mercy. The Redeemer is the best book in the series. Enjoy!

This is book four in the series and I've not read the others. I don't know if having that background knowledge would give extra understanding when reading The Redeemer or not. I enjoyed the book on some levels but didn't like how the author allowed the demon to finally find redemption and become an angel once more. Though only fiction, it just bothered me a little. The idea of no one being too far gone to find God's grace is a great theme but applying that to the supernatural realm is just a little hard for me to go along with. I enjoyed reading of Jesus and his earthly ministry. It was interesting (and sometimes comical) to read of the growing conflict between Jesus and the religious leaders of the day. To read of Jesus' sacrifice was humbling; it's a reminder of the great price He paid for us.
