Angie brings up a difficult subject: childbirth. While many women love to regale others with their birth stories, others find it all just distasteful. What if God is in it? I personally felt out of control, unsupported, frightened...all negative emotions. I never thought about it in any other way. Nothing was pleasant about bearing my four babies. Angie gives a delightfully different perspective. God was with her and He can be in all the birthing rooms, supporting all mothers while they introduce their babies to this world. This year for me is the theme of mentoring. While I am finished with the life phase of child bearing, I can support other moms in that stage. Angie's book offers a guide to mentoring moms through the child bearing process. We need to think more positively about this topic and not shy away from it and feel out of control. Offer it to moms at baby showers!

I can't encourage moms, moms to be to read this book enough. Angie has a way of being transparent that allows the reader to feel connected.  As a mom that didn't experience the birth I envisioned I am thankful for this book. God, through Angie's words, gave me peace and understanding. I previously wasn't sure I wanted anymore children, but now know that God has a plan. I see that He was there for me all along.  Redeeming Childbirth is a great book that covers a variety of topics from relationships to morning sickness. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

As a mama to five children, I've read just about every book on birth out there, but I've never read one that encouraged me to be as prepared spiritually as I was physically and mentally.  This is a must-read book, and I highly recommend it  ~Joy!

As a birth doula and childbirth educator I am constantly looking for new resources to share with clients. I am also a Christian and I am often disappointed with the ways that the Body of Christ discourage women during the child-bearing years. Instead of lifting a woman up and encouraging her that Christ is her strength and song we often build idols of fear through horror stories and negativity. Author, Angie Tolpin has confronted this issue head on in her book Redeeming Childbirth and crafted a book that points to Christ and His ability to bring forth life from our own. If you've ever felt discouraged about giving birth or if you had a bad experience with pregnancy, labor or beyond then you need to read this book. God longs to renew our minds with regards to birth and Angie's book is a Spirit-filled endeavor toward that end. Women at either end of the spectrum, young and old, can benefit from reading this. It reminds us to love one another compassionately and gently through the child-bearing years and to serve and support one another selflessly. It is so much more than a book on birth. Birth professionals (midwives, OBs, doulas, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, etc...) who desire to create a Christ-centered practice will glean much from the pages of this book. The birth field is full of strong opinions, but Angie gently reminds us that God is in control and that the redemption of childbirth is found in trusting God's good purposes for our lives and the lives of our children. I so appreciate the purpose and heart of this book. Buy it for yourself, a mama-to-be or a local crisis pregnancy center. It will be money well spent.

I couldn't put it down. This book is so amazing. I have no children and am working on my first. But in the process of talking to first time moms I had begun to get discouraged. Everyone seem to be talking about how miserable they were throughout there pregnancy, how fearful they were of complications, and how an epidural was the only way to go. I want to have a natural birth experience Lord willing and everyone keeps telling me you don't want to do that or your not strong enough to handle that. After experiencing a miscarriage during my first pregnancy, I am so thankful for this book. I wish it had been written a few months earlier so it would have been there to comfort my fears about childbirth and calm the anxiety and stress. "Redeeming Childbirth" provides a realistic look at the process of childbirth in an inspiring and uplifting way. I recommend this for everyone going through the process of childbirth. It will bring healing to your soul and teach you to glorify God even through the moments when you feel that you have nothing left to give.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Christian Childbirth Book the Entire Church Should Read, January 15, 2013 By Deltra T.R James - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Redeeming Childbirth: Experiencing His Presence in Pregnancy, Labor, Childbirth, and Beyond (Paperback) I am thanking God for this book and thankful the author answered the call he made to her heart to write it. From its beginning, it is obvious that she is passionate about one thing - Christ centered births. Not hospital births, not home births, just births where God is invited into that birthing room. She experienced this and wants her sisters in Christ to as well. It's true, women judge each other all the time because of their choices. How many times have you resisted sharing an experience because of what others might say? Be honest with yourself and you might recall a time when you may have made another woman feel badly about her own choices. Sadly, the world's view and attitudes on many things have leaked into the church and that needs to change. It starts with you. This book challenges and I hope you are up for the challenge! I pray that changing our attitudes about pregnancy and childbirth would trickle down to other areas we women so often bash one another in motherhood, like staying at home vs working outside the home and the educational choices we make regarding our children. As a busy mother myself, I have a hard time finding the time to read many of the childbirth books on the market but I feel that Angie has produced one that is exactly what I was looking for. There are a variety of others, but they don't cover all that this book does. Many are even spirtual, but they focus on drawing from your own "womanly strength", not God's. This book is for Christ following moms, whether they dance through pregnancy or spend most of it in the bathroom or bed. It encourages throughout pregnancy and shares encouragement for your birth and beyond. It challenges expectant mothers to view the blessings having a child can bring to them, their marriage, and the world instead of seeing the cost of having a child. It challenges the entire church to come alongside those women. Truly, this book would make a wonderful addition to church libraries (and a magnificent gift for baby showers). I'm grateful this book has come along at a time in my life where I am right there, able to benefit from it as an expectant mother. I'm ready to invite God into my birthing experience, something I've never done before. Still, even if you are done having children, trying to conceive, a single sister, a father to be, a labor support person, this book is well worth reading and will equip you to better serve, empathize with, and encourage expectant women.

I just love this book! Redeeming Childbirth aims to encourage mother's during their pregnancies, and on their walk with Christ. It helps to encourage them through their pregnancies, and rely on God through difficulties they may experiences. It reminds us to rest in the assurance of God's promise to bless us (women) through our pregnancies...and so so much more!

I am so grateful to have read this book as my husband and I begin the process of starting our family. I appreciate Angie's commitment to bring women together. Redeeming Childbirth is thorough and biblically sound. I was both encouraged and inspired by this read.

I am so thrilled with the message of Redeeming Childbirth! Childbirth does not have to be a feared event and topic that brings division between Christians women! Rather, this beautiful event in a mom's life can be monumental spiritually! It also has the power to bring marriages and relationships together! The author provides such encouragement for anyone from a newly pregnant mom to a mentor on how the Lord can change us through childbirth.
