Redemption and Regrets (Chastity Falls, #4) by L. A. Cotton

Four years ago, I had everything. All it took was the snap of his fingers and he ripped it out from under me.

Betrayed, by my own father.

His enemies want me dead and old allies want me back in their ranks to help take what's owed. And while I’m trying to figure out what I want, there's her. The one I watch from the shadows, afraid to bare myself to her—the real me.

Hard. Cold. Deadly.

She should fear me—Braiden Donohue—but I’m not the only one keeping secrets, and I must discover what she's hiding.

Before it’s too late.

Redemption will be afforded, regrets will be atoned.

Welcome back to Chastity Falls.

It's always sad to see a series you've been following end. I didn't care for Braiden from the moment I met him. He was so horrible to Ana and not a good friend to Jackson. He redeemed himself in this book though. After 4 years of being in prison and completely out of the loop I'm glad he walked out of Oregon State with the desire to be a better person. I LOVED Cara. She was just this light in a dark world. She really helped define this book and helped pull Braiden in the right direction. Even though I enjoyed reading this book from Braiden's perspective at the beginning I was so glad that we got a chance to see Cara's side as well. I loved the epilogue. We got that last glance into Jackson and Ana. I will definitely miss reading about this group from Chastity Falls.

I haven't read the previous books in this series but this can be read as a standalone. It's about three Irish families who settled in America. Initially, they were friends and supported each other but with new generations, things have changed! Braiden Donahue is the one in line to keep his family name going. He has just spent four years in prison and isn't sure of the path he wants to take now that he is free. He is a changed man! Cara is a college student. She wants to get away from the life where she feels smothered! College is the ideal place to make friends and feel "normal". There is one problem though. Jason! Her parents trust him enough to keep her safe. Braiden is met by his twin sister and her boyfriend, Luke. It would appear that Luke's family has great plans for Braiden. At this point, he is not sure of what he wants in life. Does he want to go back to the life that he was born and brought up into? He ends up in a remote town to have some space to himself. When he goes for a walk, he spots this feisty blonde who piques his interest. She is quite intrigued by him too. As they get to know each other, the attraction between them is so much more than what they expect but when they discover each other's true identity, despair sets in. They are from different worlds and getting involved anymore than they are can be dangerous. This is a heartwrenching story. There is a web of lies where family loyalties are divided. It's full of deceit, manipulations, greed for power, betrayal, violence and forbidden love. The interactions between Braiden and Cara are full of love and passion but with all the obstacles they face, do they have to part ways? Can love conquer all? It's a very engaging novel. A fast paced page turner. The emotions are so very palpable. Even though, I would have liked to have seen a little more of what the future holds, I absolutely loved this novel and would recommend to other readers. I received a complimentary ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
