A good introduction for kids/teens to poetry. I'm not sure how this could hold an adult's interest--unless the person first encountered it as a child. The book is visually appealing and does cover a variety of styles.

This is a beatiful collection of poetry. I read this many times with my mother as a little girl and the memory of the stories came flooding back the moment I opened the book. I absolutly love it!

Poetry is more concise and descriptive than prose, therefor this book is worth its weight in diamonds. Think of the way people could talk if they talked how this book is written - we'd save breathe and time. Though old in age, it's new for the young and it never tarnishes, and neither will volumes 1-3 of Wonderful Stories from Skog Forest.

I don't remember when I got my first copy of this book - a Scholastic edition. Sometime in elementary school. I was sucked into the worlds of AE Housman and Langston Hughes and this book turned me on to poetry forever. The selections are great - wide ranging. This is a volume you will pass down from generation to generation as I plan to do with my young boys.

When I was in 7th grade TAA seemed very long and boring . So my homeroom teacher , being an English teacher , gave me leave of her stack of books . Among them was this one . My favorites were Arithmetic and Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle . At the end of the year the book returned to it`s shelf and was never again seen by my eyes . But I`ve never forgotten it .
