Reggae Royalty

Reggae singer and songwriter Dennis Brown was only 11 when he first cut a song in a recording studio, a song he wrote himself called "Lips of Wine" for producer Derrick Harriott in 1968, and he had an amazingly prolific recording career, with more than 75 original albums to his name (not to mention scores of compilations, repackagings, and reissues) before his untimely death in 1999. This three-disc set is yet another hit or miss repackaging of various Brown tracks, but that doesn't make it a poor purchase, because there are plenty of classic Brown performances here, including two of his finest, 1972's "Money in My Pocket" (collected here in an extended version) and 1973's "Westbound Train," both of which were produced by Winston "Niney" Holness.
