Overview

As a three-month-old baby lying in her grandmother’s arms, author Marilou Trask-Curtin had the fantastic experience of remembering herself in other bodies, times, and places. In this fascinating book, she tells the stories of soul lessons and past-life relationships that were too powerful to ignore. With a supportive community of like-minded seekers, Trask-Curtin achieves a remarkable transformation, and now she is able to affirm this important fact: Reincarnation is real.

It’s not easy for anyone to move past the limiting teachings of our culture, but Reincarnation shares a comforting idea— death is not the end, but rather a glorious new beginning. Join Marilou as she explores her soul’s path, returning again and again to fulfill what was unfulfilled in other lifetimes. With the true stories of Marilou’s remarkable experiences, this book reaffirms that empathy, forgiveness, and unconditional love are our soul’s most important lessons.

Reincarnation, a concept long associated with Eastern religions and philosophies, is the belief that our souls live on after death and then are reborn in a new body to learn lessons and work out karma. The latest offering by Trask-Curtin (Dreaming of the Dead) continues her autobiographical account of her experiences with guardian angels, ghosts, and, most particularly, past-life regressions. Encouraged to explore her spiritual destiny by various teachers, the author underwent a series of hypnosis sessions in the 1980s in which she was "regressed" into remembering multiple previous lifetimes. For Trask-Curtin, these vivid past-life experiences provide explanations for particular skills, traits, likes, and preternatural fears she currently possesses. She suggests that reincarnation allows us to develop maturities, explains inborn talents, provides opportunities to work out issues with other reincarnated souls, and, if we are lucky, reunite with loves from the past. VERDICT This very Western take on reincarnation, based on the author's personal experience and opinion, will serve as an entertaining and accessible introduction to the concept for readers new to the subject.—Janet Tapper, Univ. of Western States Lib., Portland, OR
