About the Author

James A. Grimshaw, Jr. holds a B.A. and an M.A. from Texas Tech University and a Ph,D.from Louisiana State University. He taught English at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs from 1968 to 1983 moving in rank from Instructor in English to
Associate Professor of English with tenure as well as Lt. Colonel in the USAF before retiring to accept a position as Professor and Head, Department of Literature and Languages at East Texas State University (now Texas A & M University-Commerce), a position he retired from completely in 2005. In addition to his 35 year teaching career, Grimshaw has been an active scholar. His publications include: Robert Penn Warren: A Descriptive Bibliography (1982); Robert Penn Warren's Brother to Dragons: A Discussion (1983); Cleanth Brooks and Robert Penn Warren: A Literary Correspondence (1998) and Understanding Robert Penn Warren (2001). Throughout his career, Grimshaw has contributed book chapters, published articles and poems, presented papers, given readings, participated in audio-visual presentations, reviewed books, and, with his wife Dee, raised children, peacocks and buffalo.
Others have recognized the value of Grimshaw's contributions. In 1979-80, he was a Visiting Fellow in Bibliography at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University. In 1988 and again in 1995, he received The Faculty Senate Distinguished Faculty Award at ETSU. In 2005 he became an Honorary Kentucky Colonel (making him Col. Col. Grimshaw), and in 2007 he was named Professor Emeritus, Literature & Languages, Texas A & M University System. This volume, Relationships: Ricocheting Toward Infinity, is one of ten items on his current list of active research.
