Releasing the Demons (The Order of the Senary #1) by L.D. Rose was a fast pace, heart pounding thriller that had me hooked from start to finish. My first read by this author and I was hooked with in seconds of reading that gruesome opening. What a way to start an as equally gruesome, dark, supernatural thriller, where vampires are real, they aren't nice, and are slowly taking out humans at night fall. Every morning the death toll goes up, and no matter what the police do, they can't get a hold on things. This book was, wow, once I started reading I could not put it down. Blaze, he was truly the star of this book for me. Yeah sure Valerie was pretty cool and kick ass, but Blaze, and what he went through, his character growth was something else, and though this is told in multi POV, I much preferred Blaze's narrative. The worlding building and the way the info of this world was giving, felt natural and at no point did I feel like I was being dumped on or confused. Info was giving when necessary, and at times, not knowing made for better suspense for the reader. Though by the end my heart was ready to explode. Overall this is a A class read and I can't wait to dive further into this dark, haunting series. This book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval. Happy Reading -E.A. Walsh

Releasing the Demons by L.D Rose is a gritty, urban fantasy set in the Bronx, NY. The story begins five years prior, with Blaze strung up and tortured for being a genetically engineered hybrid. This mutation makes him stronger and more deadly than any vampire, and makes him the perfect match for an optimistic NYPD detective, Valerie Medeiros. Both Blaze and Valerie have skeletons in their closet that have made them the people they are today. Blaze’s past make him dangerous, and reckless, and it makes Valerie hell bent on putting every vampire in the ground. That’s a goal they can both agree on achieving together, especially with the odds stacked against them. The story started off a bit messy, as it really throws readers into the deep end of the pool. I struggled to understand what was happening until I got to the 20% mark. There were several shifts in the narration to different characters, that left me a little unsure as to what was happening. But after I got the hang of everything the plot really took off and I enjoyed how dark and playful the story was. It was also really cool to see a story set in a New York that’s been overrun with vampires after they exposed themselves and slaughtered a whole room of powerful people. I thought that was really well done and really enjoyed Rose’s writing overall. The story has excellent pacing and tension building, as well as solid narration, with each character having a unique voice. I really enjoyed Releasing the Demons, and look forward to reading the second book in the series 4/5 stars

Releasing the Demons by L.D. Rose a four-star read that will hold you tight. This is the first book in the order of the senary series and it shows certain promise that we will be getting a great series. This will suck you into a world where what goes bump in the night its an intense roller-coaster of emotional reading that will suck you in, wring you out and leave you the other side. Blaze was darkly delicious and tasty in all the right ways, its clear that his history is troublesome and not something he wants to deal with, but in some ways that just makes him that much deeper of a character. Valerie was great person and together they face a hard time and you will be sat on the edge of your seat waiting to hear what they will do next. Overall a great read and I for one cant wait to sink my teeth into the next chapter.

I give Releasing the Demons (The Order of the Senary) by L.D. Rose, 5 stars. Blaze is a hybrid who spent too long at the hands of a vampire being tortured. He thought he would never survive. But his brothers rescued him. It took him a long time to mentally get out of there, but he just exists now. He only lives for killing any and all vampires. But when he has a run in with a female human detective, he starts to feel again. She is in danger and he needs to protect her. But is that all? Valerie is on the scene of yet another horrific vampire murder. All signs point to Blaze. Bit the more she knows him, the more she thinks that maybe it wasn't him. He wants to find the killer as bad as she does. Can she trust him? If it wasn't him, then who is behind it? And why does she feel more for him than she really should? This is a wonderful paranormal suspense romance. The characters are so engaging. I hope to see more of Blaze and Valerie in the future. The author crafts a world in which you get lost in immediately and feel sorry that the ride is over when you come to the the last page. Expertly done, I hope to read much more of this series in the future. If you like paranormal books with action/suspense and romance, this book is for you.

Constant Action. Releasing the Demons is an action packed paranormal book about good versus evil. L. D. Rose does an excellent job of creating the background story for this book. The characters are fully fleshed out and you know immediately whose after who. Rose keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the book. There are no dull spots or slow periods. You are constantly waiting to see what will happen next. You try to guess what is going to happen and nine times out of ten you will be wrong. You will have to read it if you want to know anymore other than its a nonstop read. Oh, I will tell you it's about vampires, each with different magical abilities. It's going to be hard to wait for the next one in the series. Great job on this one L. D. Rose!

Blaze had finally spent the night with Elena , he had been talking to her for a couple of months. Elena worked at a cafe. Blaze had an old homeless guy- Homes - watch his car the next morning he paid Homes one thousand dollars for watching the car for the night. Then Blaze had been set up to look like he murdered Elena she had been bit and burned. Homes had told the police Blaze or Hercules as Homes called him, had paid Homes to watch the car and when he left for the night Elena had been with Hercules and when he came back in the morning he was alone, Rome was the oldest of the six brothers and Blaze was one of them, and that made Rome the leader. Blaze nad his brothers were part of an organization called Order Of The Senary, The members of the order’s job is to kill vampires and protect humans. The brothers were hybrids which is half vampire and half human. The worked for the U S Military. Different hybrids had different powers like: ice, fire, healing, shapeshifter, death, and mind. Valerie and Devon were detectives as well as partners. They got Elena’s case. Valerie has a personal grudge against vampires as they had drained her eight year old sister of all her blood and of course she had died. Valerie has to bring Blaze in for questioning and soon realizes Blaze is innocent and she needs Blaze and his brothers to help clean up all the vampires. People didn’t come out at night anymore for fear of being attacked by vampires. Valerie and Blaze must learn to trust each other to work together. They are attracted to each other but also have a job to do. Alek is the sire of NYC and controls his vampires and he is also a vampire. Cyrus comes to ALek and proved he could make fire after drinking Blaze’s blood. Cyrus had held Blaze captive for seven months and regularly drained Blaze and kept his blood. Cyrus wants to hunt Blaze and once caught he will be taken by Cyrus. Alek can have all the other hybrids captured. The deal is made between Cyrus and Alek. Blaze and his brothers have been genetically engineered. Blaze and Valerie are both damaged but grow to care for each other. I enjoyed this story alot. But I would have liked to know more about the brothers beginnings and why the program had been stopped. The characters really came to life in this story. Excellent writing and great plot.Alot of action with some romance thrown in. There was times i Laughed reading this and times i choked up. I liked the relationship between Valerie and Blaze and all the twists and turns they went through. As well as all the twists and turns in the story itself. I highly recommend. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.
