Relentless by Cheyenne Meadows

Jaguar shifter and sniper extraordinaire, Jag, is tasked with his most difficult and dangerous mission to date—take out the man responsible for his spotter and husband’s violent death. Again.

Sonar, an ocelot shifter, is assigned as the new spotter to the surly and scowling feline alpha. He’s impressed with Jag’s skills but sees more beneath the surface: a grief-stricken and furious man on a trail of vengeance.

Together Sonar and Jag face perils and challenges that test their skills, resolve, and the budding feelings they have for each other. As the death toll rises, so does the heat between them. Their longings could give them the strength needed to persevere, but it also might force them to succumb and sacrifice everything. One thing’s for certain: someone won’t be making it back alive.

A Great Book Contemporary Paranormal Romance m/m Jag is a sniper extraordinaire besides being a jaguar shifter. He is also tasked with his most dangerous and difficult mission to date. He needs to take out the man that is responsible for the death of his husband’s, who was also his spotter, violent death. Again. Sonar is assigned as the new spotter to the scowling, surly feline alpha. Sonar is also an ocelot shifter. He sees more beneath the surface even as he is impressed with Jag’s skills. He sees a man that is furious and grief-stricken and that is on a trail of vengeance. Jag and Sonar together face both challenges and perils that test their resolve, skills and the budding feelings they have for each other. The heat between them rises at the same time as the death tolls. The longings they have for each other might give them the strength they need to persevere but it could also force them to succumb and sacrifice everything. The only thing that is certain is that someone won’t be making it back alive. This is a fast paced book that starts out with a lot of action and doesn’t stop until the very end. It reads more like a short story than a full sized book and proves to be hard to put down. It will also take readers on an emotional roller coaster that keeps going until the end. It would be interesting to see this made into a series as there are so many different characters that make for a very interesting world. This is also one for the keeper shelves.

Although this wasn't as intense as I thought it was going to be, it was still a good story. They characters were well written and developed. I really liked Jag and Sonar. The primary bad guy plot is wrapped up during the first half of the book, with the second half of the book more focused on Jag and Sonar and their relationship. I thought the secondary characters were well done and entertaining. I enjoyed how the author tied everything together, and with some lingering questions I wonder if there isn't going to be more after this. Overall, very well done.

For me, this is really two books or stories. First we have the revenge. This is Jag and Mark’s story even though Mark, Jag’s husband, is killed in the beginning. Jag makes it his mission for revenge to kill the man that killed Mark. And when that mission is complete, then we jump three years. We find that Jag for the last three years has been still working, but never really healed over the death. So when he finds out that the man responsible is still alive, he once again has a single focus. This time he picks up another spotter, Sonar. He’s not happy about this, because he doesn’t want to be responsible for the death of another innocent soul. As Jag and Sonar travel around the world on a case to re-intact revenge against the man that killed Jag’s husband, they start developing a friendship/bond. One that Jag is not happy about but Sonar is thrilled about. In the end Jag gets his nemesis. And story number two starts As Jag and Sonar make it back to the base and start the healing process, they also start the living process. In which they both find the happier side to each other. With silly antics from Sonar and protectiveness coming from Jag. Also we see Jag, thawing and healing. We meet the other team members and see how well they all work together. The sass, and ribbing and yet the fight to the death to protect one another no matter what. All great for such a close team. Independent reviewer for Divine Magazine, I was gifted my copy of this book. Jag thought he had his revenge for the death of his husband. Til he who Jag thought dead resurfaces. Now he has to take a new spotter, after three years working alone and Sonar is not welcome. But the jaguar in Jag and the ocelot in Sonar work well together, and once this mission is over, they will see just how well. Is this part of a series?? I can't find it saying so, but I'm left missing...something. Not really sure what it is I am missing, but I am left with that feeling. Oh, don't get me wrong, this is a really good book, and I really enjoyed it, I just needed something to make it a five star read and I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what! Jag's heart was broken when his husband died at his side. And since then he has been alone in his misery. Sonar brings him out of that, and Jag can't work out why HE would be the one to do it. Feelings his heart thought it would never feel again, feeling his HEAD thought long dead, rise to the fore with Sonar at his side and the little cat weighing in at 60lbs against his 300lb plus really pushes his luck! I loved the interaction between, not only the two men, but the two cats too. Very different in size and temperament, they feed off each other, and Sonar's cheeky side comes out best as his cat. As his human half, Sonar pushes Jag far beyond that which anyone else did, not even his husband, and Jag, while surprised at first, really likes that. I did too. I loved the marked differences that Jag made between Sonar and his dead husband. OH! And I loved the twist that took. Did not work that one out fast enough, but I loved that. This is, as far as I can see, the first I've read by this author. I'd like to read more, something with the other men in their unit. Maybe thats what I'm missing, more about the others. I dunno, my brain is not firing on all cylinders today and maybe in a day or two I can word it better. So, because of the missing...whatever it is... 4 solid stars. **same worded review will appear on Goodreads,,, Barnes and Noble and Kobo**
