Overview

Relentless by Karen Lynch

Sara Grey's world shattered ten years ago when her father was brutally murdered. Now at seventeen, she is still haunted by memories of that day and driven by the need to understand why it happened. She lives a life full of secrets and her family and friends have no idea of the supernatural world she is immersed in or of Sara's own very powerful gift.

In her quest for answers about her father's death, Sara takes risks that expose her and her friends to danger and puts herself into the sights of a sadistic vampire. On the same fateful night she meets Nikolas, a warrior who turns Sara's world upside down and is determined to protect her even if it's the last thing she wants.

Sara's life starts to spin out of control as she is hunted by an obsessed vampire, learns that her friends have secrets of their own and reels from the truth about her own ancestry. Sara has always been fiercely independent but in order to survive now she must open herself to others, to reveal her deepest secrets. And she must learn to trust the one person capable of breaking down the walls around her.

I usually don't get into this genre, but it looked interesting so I decided to give a go. Once I got started I was floored by the author's style. The characters are all believable and they are developed in such a way that you don't have to spend time with 4 or 5 chapters of filler before the action begins. She gets into it right away and develops the characters as you get into the flow of the book. It is kind of reminiscent of the way one of favorite authors Terry Brooks does it in his Word and the Void series. I found myself starting to try to figure out how these crazy characters were going to interact and trying to get the plot before it happened. A good author gives you a little bit but then throws a twist at you that you wouldn't expect and the author delivers in spades with this book. While the characters had definitive good and evil structure to them they also showed a respect for each others abilities, well except for the ugly toothsome baddies. In the end I was left looking for more, not because of a lack of content, but because of I had grown to care what happened to these characters. I am patiently awaiting the 2nd and 3rd novel in this trilogy! Great job and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about the struggle between good and evil and is looking for a couple of days of escape from the rat race we live in. If you take more than a couple of days to read this book you ain't doin' it right!

At first I was skeptical about this book. But once I'd finished chapter after chapter, I could not get enough! The story line is perfect And I loved the characters! For starter Sara the main character is the strongest female chatacter I've read about. Not to mention the supporting guy characters! They're all so unique in every way. I highly recomend this book, it kept me from sleeping I jusy couldn't put it down!

I absolutely adored this book, and its characters!! The main character is easy to fall in love with, and I connected with her a lot. I devoured this book in one night, then I just had to rate and review, which I usually don't do. This left me wanting more from this author, and also of this series! If only I had enough money I would buy the two other ones, but unfortunately I don't, so I have to wait. I would recommend this book to anyone.

This was a great read! The characters were all relatable and believable, the setting was wonderful, and I never got it right when I tried to anticipate what would happen next. I wish it would have been longer because now I'm forced to find something else to read when I'm still ensconced in this world she created. My only negative comment would be about the number of typos/grammatical errors. Not so many that it detracted from the story, but certainly enough to get my attention. Still totally worth it and I'll definitely be purchasing the next book.

I had purchased Relentless, awhile back. It went on to my ever growing TBR pile. But why did I wait so long?! I have no idea. I don’t always make the best decisions. So when I was looking for a new audiobook for my drive. I added the audible. And I’m really glad I did.  This is probably one of the best Paranormal/Urban Fantasies I’ve read/listened to in a really long time. It’s not my usual go to genre, but when it’s done right. It’s the best thing to read! There is so much danger, secrets, and powers throughout this story. There is a mixture of characters, from different walks of life. And there was never a moment, where I got bored or it just felt drawn out.  Sara has been dealing with a lot and at this point in her life. There are surprises around every corner. But one thing for sure she is as stubborn as a mule. She’s really hanging to how her life was prior to all of these things that have come to light. I’m not going to give any of those away.  Because I want you to enjoy this as much as I have.  Relentless is an intense and addictive read. I loved how Caitlin Greer narrated this story. She brought to life, all of these different characters. I felt as if I was there myself. Nothing like listening to an audiobook, and really connecting with the characters of the story.  Overall, Five Boundless Stars. I can’t wait to jump into the next book, Refuge.

Story very fast paced and good for the most part. The heroine was very annoying... Talk about a martyr she felt that she was for everything and everyone.

It starts a little slow but once you are introduced to the characters it takes off like a rocket. I was hooked and couldn't put it down . When I finished it i immediately bought the rest of the series.

I enjoyed all the complexities of the characters. There weren't just Mohiri or vampire. There were a plethora of other creatures that were mixed into the story to make the world something special. I really wanted there to be more sexual tension between Nicholas and Sara, but I'm intrigued to see how their relationship plays out in the sequel.

Really liked the action and characters. Sara irritated me at times but good writing to show her as a self-centered teenager.
