Overall Rating:  4.25 Rockin’ ¿¿¿¿ Life is not always a bed of roses, sometimes it is a pathway to Hell! This is Charlie and Landon’s story of life, death and love!  In this dark romance by author M. N. Forgy we delve into the angst and drama filled lives of two unlikely souls that are fated to complete each other. Nine year old Charlie witnesses her mother’s brutal death and subsequently lives in denial and refuses to remember what happened.  She is moved through Foster Care and lives a life of virtual servitude until she reaches the age to leave.  Life is not easy for a young woman without any family or ties, until Landon Blackwell steps into her life.  He seems like the perfect man, she feels safe with him but things in their past prevent them from being together. Unknown to Charlie, Landon was guiding and protecting her, rescuing her from harm’s way.  She was his salvation and even though he could not claim her as his own he would do his best to keep her safe.  His father would have her killed and any other family she had!  So can a Blackwell ever be with an Evans?  Read this intriguing book for the answer! Survival I must say this book was so unexpected from what I thought it will be. First of all Charlie has had a helluva childhood from not being able to remember what happened to her Mom to going to the foster families that have chosen to take her in (or shall I say take her check in). When she turns 18 she decides to leave to make a better life for herself somehow, along with her foster sister Jayden. When they first get to town Charlie literally runs into Landon and is immediately drawn to him. From there Charlie and Jayden have a string of bad luck which unfortunately for young naive girls like them leads down a path that neither wanted but needed to put food in their stomach and keep a roof over their heads. Landon is a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders due to a promise he gave his mom. He sees that Charlie is different than any girl he has ever met and knows that to uphold his promise he must let her go. This was a sexy story of survival and love that held me riveted to its pages. The suspense kept me turning anticipating what was going to happen and then BAM totally sideswiped. The character's are beautifully flawed and possess strength that one can dare to have. M.N. Forgy rocked this one out of the park and hopefully we'll get Roman's story next.
