Even though this is the third book in the series, it's my first by Nichole Chase. I'm glad I decided to give it a chance since I was worried there would be things that I could tell I'm missing from previous books, but Ms. Chase does an excellent job keeping the other stories straight. Or if there was something mentioned previously, it was explained well. But I'm getting off course here. Prince Maxwell was a very swoon-worthy character. Yes, he's a prince, but you wouldn't know by the way he acts. He's more of an introvert who hates the limelight. He leaves all that to his brother. Oh, and he's a bit relationship-phobic too. So when he volunteers to tell Lady Meredith that her beloved grandfather passed, he can't help but feel protective towards her and her six-year-old son. For someone who always says he doesn't do romantic entanglements and kids has a hard time staying away from the pair. I loved how we got to see Maxwell basically blindsided by love. I love when the guys fall and fall hard. I will have to find some time to read more of Nichole Chase's books. If they are as good as this one, she'll make it to my long list of favorite authors!

This was such a cute series that I'm sad to see the characters go. I enjoyed each book a little more then the last. It was nice to see what the original characters were up to but also to see the newer characters and story lines continue to develop. This author is definitely on my watch list!

This was a nice way to wrap up the series, but I wish that there was a better epilogue. I'd like to know what happens in the future with our three couples: families, careers, etc

Of course the last book in the series would be about the last Royal, Max. A great ending for a great series. I loved it.

I enjoyed the three books in this series but I feel that this one left me lacking at the end... Would like to know what happened between Meredith and her drunk of a father... Did she become a Duchess or did he recover and become the Duke... I know it was a love story between her and Max but somebody had to end up in charge of the castle... Worth the read... Loved Sam and Alex and little Marty was pretty cute too.

I fell in love with Max in Book 1...To see him grow up through the books was very special! The way that he was automatically drawn to Meredith even though it took him out of his "comfort zone" was a nice change. The way he took charge and control of all that was Meredith and Marty in order to make sure they were OK was heartwarming. Even though he did not like the spotlight and the "being royal" he put them first and did what he had to in order to help them. He admitted to himself that he loved her now to just admit it to her! Meredith was a strong women who had to fend for herself throughout her life because her mother took off and her father was a drunk and Marty's father took off when he found out she was pregnant which caused her to swear off men. When her Grandad died it sent her world into a spin. She was going to do this herself with no help from anyone especially not Prince Maxwell! Well her heart took over her brain and her brain took over her heart and she fell hard. She admitted to herself that she loved Max now to just tell him!

This series is amazing with each book you fall in love more and more with the characters. From Alex and Sam to Cathy and David and now Max and Meredith. Even little Marty carves a place out in your heart. I hate to see this series end but I have to say it ended perfectly. Nichole Chase is an extremely talented author and her stories and characters just suck you right in.

I decided to give this author a try as an example of the New Adult category. I read the entire series including this last one in the series. I enjoyed them very much. As with most romances its strength is in its characters, which are very likeable commoner and royal alike. The story’s sense of humor works well. Probably the only “complaint” is that the royals seem too much like regular people to be believable. However, the suspense of credibility is worth the enjoyment of the tale.

Reluctantly Royal is a enchanting love story. The romance is sweet and endearing but packs just the right amount of steam. Max is a prince of Lilaria. Since the untimely death of his father, Max has had a hate relationship with the press and has kept his life extremely guarded. When he is asked to notify a lady of their court, Meredith Thysmer, of the death of her grandfather while she is in America, Max is pulled into what is sure to be a media fire storm. Max could choose to walk away or he could help protect Meredith and her young son from the media backlash.  I think I fell in love all over again with the back characters that have delighted us in the past books in this series, they play an integral roll in Max and Meredith's story. Beautifully written to pull you in and invest you completely into these character's lives, Chase provides an intensely romantic story. To put it simply, I loved reading this book.

I was losing my heart to this prince. A prince who would hate everything about the career I was trying to build for myself. ** There was something about this book that had me aching to get back to it every time I had to put it down. It wasn't overly flashy. It didn't have some huge, shocking twist. No, it was just a classic romance. A romance that makes you weak in the knees as you watch the Prince fall for the girl. Yes! I was smitten with this book. In a lot of ways it reminded me of book one, SUDDENLY ROYAL. It had that same sense of romance. First real love and all the goody that goes with it. I have adored this series from the start and to finally get up close and personal with Max was well worth the wait. And Meredith is an amazing character too. I adored her as a mother, a duchess, and as a girl you just want to hug. Her life isn't easy by any means, but she makes the most of it to provide for her son, Marty. I think my only problem came at the end of the story. At first I thought it could have been prolonged a bit more. But I quickly changed my mind once I read the epilogue. Chase summed up the book (and series) perfectly in just a few pages. So all in all, there wasn’t a thing I would have changed about the story. Seeing these two fall for each other was such a beautiful thing. Readers are going to once again be reminded of real romance in Chase's newest book and all the wonderful feelings that comes along with falling in real love. 5 Stars!

I've read both the first and second books in this series, and to be honest, I don't really remember Max all that well, but boy...oh, boy, did he make an impression on me in this book. It was great catching up with some of my favorite characters, whilst getting to know new or previously minor characters. It felt like I'd been away and had come home to Lilaria for a quick visit - to catch up on all the royal gossip. Max was swoonworthy. I loved how protective he was of not only Meredith, but also little Marty. In fact, some of my favorite and most memorable moments of this story are of the times Max spent with Marty. It was sweet and just showed how amazing Max was. Marty was such a lovable kid and it was easy to see why everyone was so taken by him. It was just a pity that, other than his grandfather, he had no strong male role models in his life and I think that was why it was so fantastic that he and Max bonded so quickly. I didn't connect with Meredith quite like I did with Sam and Cathy, but that poor women went through so many life changes in such a short amount of time and my heart ached for her. Struggling with the loss of her grandfather and having to put up with an abusive father, she still had to stay strong for her son. I was just glad she had Max, and the rest of the royal family, to lean on even though she was reluctant to reach out to them in the beginning. This story was a sweet romance with plenty of depth and emotion. The characters had their ups and downs, but with amazing friends and family they were able to pull through, and the love and happiness they deserved. This was a lovely addition to this series.
