Reviewed by Melinda Hills for Readers' Favorite Connected inexplicably through time and space, Sarah Ferguson must live through the experiences of a young girl from ancient Persia to understand the nightmares that haunt and hurt her. Remember Me: A Love Story by Mary Funk follows Sarah as she is guided through a past life regression by a renowned hypnotherapist to discover why she wakes up with blood in her mouth and horrible headaches. As the process takes Sarah deeper and deeper, she relives the tragic tale of Ayisha, a beautiful farmer’s daughter who is taken from her loving home to become the next wife of King Darius. Ayisha’s childhood friend and the love of her life, Zabi, tries to rescue her, but there is just no way to overcome the guards, spies, and web of intrigue that surround Ayisha. Unable to escape the prison, she is forced to endure in spite of its beauty and benefits. Ayisha gives in to her fate, living solely for the chance to take revenge. Will Sarah get the answers she needs to find the source of her nightly terror in these sessions of hypnosis? Will she discover what her connection is to a long-ago love story? Wonderfully detailed with amazing descriptions and well developed characters, Remember Me: A Love Story by Mary Funk puts you right in the action as Sarah presents the unfolding story of Ayisha and Zabi, cleverly told through her interaction with a hypnotherapist. Culturally rich depictions of life in the harem of the king and age-old motives of greed, lust and revenge bring the story to life and keep you turning pages, anxious to find out what comes next. This is a truly entertaining story that is filled with emotion and lessons of acceptance and forgiveness, as well as a reminder that true love is everlasting. Excellent story! I was enthralled throughout and loved every word.

Reviewed by Kathryn Bennett for Readers' Favorite Remember Me: A Love Story by Mary Funk reminds us that great hurts done to us can't be healed until we forgive those who did the wrong, even if it takes multiple life times. Sarah Ferguson will tell you about the nightmares she has, so real that when you wake up you spit blood out in your own bathroom. All of her doctors say there is nothing physically wrong with her, it's all in her head, of course. She is sent to Dr. Tremaine, a therapist in Chicago who is the 'it' person to see when you're losing your mind. Dr. Tremaine shows Sarah that she just might not be mad and brings her back to a previous life in ancient Persia when she was called Ayisha. Follow Sarah as she follows Ayisha, going from innocent to a vengeful woman who was hurt beyond measure. This is an amazing story of love, betrayal, and supernatural fun all rolled into one. For me, the first chapter was a little bit slow as it laid down the groundwork. However, after that everything started flying and the book took on a fast pace, full of amazing detail and story. We walk hand in hand with Sarah as she moves with her former self, watching helplessly as her life goes from wonderful to painful when the boy she loves is torn away from her violently. Your heart can't help but go out to them both; the story makes you feel deeply and it connects you to the characters with every turn of the page. There is a depth to this story that you don't always expect in a supernatural love story. You can tell that author Mary Funk put her soul into writing this book and I can't wait to read more.

Reviewed by Cheryl E. Rodriguez for Readers' Favorite Unbelievably bizarre, Remember Me: A Love Story by Mary Funk will capture your heart and challenge your psyche. Sarah Ferguson suffers from horrific nightmares. She takes a “mind-adventure” into the prison of her mind. Through therapy, Sarah attempts to unlock her subconscious. Sarah’s pain takes her back in time into another life. Under hypnosis, Sarah visualizes a young Persian girl, Ayisha, walking on the sand. Her therapist encourages Sarah to “let the girl tell you her story.” Somehow, Ayisha holds the key to what is happening to Sarah. These two women, living in two distinct times, are linked together by some extraordinary means. One question remains: is this a pathway to freedom, or a mindless journey of the imagination?  Remember Me: A Love Story is strangely unique, making it a prime candidate for the supernatural genre. Mary Funk pens a fascinating mixture of weird and wonderful. The story’s setting is ancient Persia, the time of Darius the Great. Giving an account of this time in history, Mary Funk shares her knowledge of Persian customs, religion and culture. Through illustrious and sensory descriptions, Funk allows the reader to walk alongside her characters into the past. You sense the grandeur of the palace, the smell of the orchards and the steam of the baths. The theme woven throughout the narrative is: the choices we make determine the life we lead. “The future walks hand-in-hand with free will.” This is a story of love, betrayal, sacrifice and forgiveness. A story that cleanses the bitter bile of revenge and transforms it into the sweet, refreshing taste of freedom. Remember Me:  A Love Story reveals the powerful impact of the act of forgiveness.

I read Mary Funk's entire novel "Remember Me" almost without a break. It was very hard to put down and I was truly blown away by it. It is a beautiful love story, but love is only one aspect of this mufti-faceted gem. The story is fast-paced, rich in adventure and unpredictable expansions. The characters are so expertly vivified, and a young girl's sufferings are described with such terrifying detail and lucidity, that one can almost experience her terror as she was subjected to unthinkable cruelty. But what mostly impressed me about this novel was the author's deep understanding of how our weak nature seeks vengeance first, instead of forgiveness and peace within, and that by doing so we bring nothing but destruction upon ourselves. The reader cannot help but agonize about Ayisha's fate - the innocent 14-year-old girl who was deeply in love with a boy and had her whole life planned ahead, only to be violently torn from her loved ones forever. As this ancient tale unfolds we helplessly "watch" alongside Sarah as Ayisha's startling hunger for vengeance and reckless choices put her in much danger. This magical tale's anticipated but feared conclusion expertly manages to soothe the reader's soul with the author's skillful rendition of redemption and new life found within forgiveness. Although the novel is superbly entertaining, it is this that makes it remarkable to me and puts it at the top on my recommendation list.

A wonderful story, much of which is set in ancient Persia while some of it in the present time period. Funk does a good job of switching between past and present. The story is well-written and full of intrigue. It's an adventure story, but laced with deeper meaning that turn it into a journey of the soul where eternal truths are discovered. I highly recommend REMEMBER ME.
