I started this book today March 4 2005 at 8:00am I did not put it down until 10pm the same day. I laughed so hard while reading this love story that I cried. Thank you Mr Murray.

When I read this book I could not put it down until I finished it. Then I gave it to my daughter to read. We both enjoyed it very much. Thought it was very funny in some parts. We did not think that Renee dominated Jay. We felt that Jay loved her and that was that. When he did not like something he took control or walked away from Renee. I agree with Raquel, it was a story of love. An interracial love, looked at from both sides. Very, very good reading. I can't wait to read Renee and Jay2.

This is my first read by J.J Murray, and I found it to be likeable, funny, and deeply moving. I loved the way Renee&Jay met. During a snow storm, how romantic. Then how he sheepishly worships her from afar and as the night continues on,up close and personal. This story helps us see, that you don't have to be a super model or a GQ guy to be attracted to another. It was the heart that brought these two together. I loved Papa and his funny comments about life in general. And Renee's Momma even though she had a lot of bite and judgemental at times, yet,she too had a good heart. I read this book in two days and have read it over 3 times since. I recommend this book and any other book that J.J Murray decides to write. Read it soon, it'll make you laugh and cry. Move over Romeo&Juliet, Renee&Jay is in town.

After reading all the glowing reviews I expected more from this book. Renee was too concerned with what other people thought. I thought it was totally unrealistic that she was ready to marry Giavonni but would not kiss him in public or in front of her mother. Although parts of the book was funny, overall I thought it was unrealistic.

African-American Renee Howard¿s drive from her job as a customer service representative for Star City Cable to her home usually takes a few minutes. However, not only was she crawling home due to the snowstorm that socks Roanoke, Virginia, her car skids sideways and becomes stuck, leaving her stranded at Luchesi¿s Restaurant. In the restaurant parking lot, Renee meets the manager Giovanni ¿Jay¿ Luchesi, who tries to help her out of her stuck spot. That fails so she enters the restaurant where the heat between the Italian stallion and the African-American sister could have melted the snow if they stepped back outside.

Even after the snow is gone, RENEE AND JAY continue to see each other because they have fallen in love at first sight. However, his father and her mother object to any relationship between them not just because of the issue of interracial coupling though that is part of the concern. Still Jay and Renee go out of their way to understand the essence of their beloved because both want a lifetime relationship filled with loving and nurturing.

Renee is a likable humorous individual trying to make it and will garner empathy. On the other hand, Jay is too stereotyped as no one could be so 100% pure white bread like him in a city 25 per cent Black, which in turn makes his efforts to become a bit toasted fail to ring genuine. Though R and J are not Romeo and Juliet or Tony and Maria, the story line deeply explores the problems confronting interracial couples from within and from loving relatives who genuinely want the best for their beloved.

I loved the book. It was a great read, I didn't want to put it down. Renee was a bit bossy and Jay a bit conforming but hey some people are. The book showed peoples true feelings of interracial dating, the families weren't for it but dealt with it. Love Prevails.

Purchased this book at a book warehouse sale. The artwork attracted me. It truelly surprised me. It was one of the funniest and easiest reads. It was a true romance. I loved Renee's internal dialogues. I went to the author's website to post him a comment to keep up the good work.

I loved this story. Renee&Jay made me laugh and cry and root for a couple that truly compliments each other. There were so many good things about this book. I loved the simplicity of Pops. The way he looked at life and his love for his son. So much so that he put his Son's wants and desires above his own. Good Parent! I also loved the part where Mama realizes that Renee is in love with a White Guy. And even though Renee was a bit bossy to poor Jay, It was nice to see a Man who was eager to please his Woman no matter what it takes. J.J Murray kept his story simple and true. Not overwhelming us with alot of negative thoughts. It was indeed a fun read. Renee&Jay's love proved once again, how its not the color of a person's skin that makes him or her your soul mate. Rather, its whats in the heart. J.J Murray please write us a sequel.

Renee and Jay took my breath away. I absolutely loved the way `Giovanni¿ loved `Renee¿. This book focused on so many types of love (the love between `Renee; and `Jay¿; the love between `Pops¿ and his late wife `Ruth¿; the love between `Christina¿ and `Alexis¿; the love between `Mama¿ and `¿Michael¿; and the love between `Collette¿ and `Clyde¿. Even if someone doesn¿t understand anything else¿they should understand love. As far as people having a problem with the book, they are entitled to their opinion, however, this book wasn¿t about `Giovanni¿ being dominated by `Renee¿¿it wasn¿t about `Mama¿ dominating `Renee¿¿it wasn¿t about `Renee¿ being a spokesperson for the entire Black race¿it wasn¿t about `Mama¿s¿ attitude towards Italians¿and it wasn¿t about whatever other problem readers had with the book (though I don¿t see what possible problems they could have with it) it was about people being people-imperfect, flawed, prejudiced, and ultimately loved. It is a real portrayal of real people and real Life. Life is not always pretty-but Love is always beautiful. Some readers may not understand the dynamics of interracial relationships, then again how many of those readers have experienced interracial love. You can befriend/love someone from another race, and still retain some prejudices. It is not about prejudice it is about overcoming those prejudices, and `Renee¿, `Pops¿, `Mama¿, and `Renee¿ did overcome those prejudices. You can have a chart detailing the requirements of your fantasy love, however, Life often has other plans and as a result you often end up loving someone you never imagined you would. I was over the moon to read a book about a Black woman that wasn¿t relegated to the role of victim, but uplifted to the role of `love of his Life¿. I applaud JJ Murray and his wife¿they make a great writing/editing team; and they make a beautiful family.

I have have nothing but good thing to say about this book, the only problem I had is that Renee seemed to be the onlt one with a Big Chip. She cared to much what other people had on there mind.
