Overview

The renegade cowboy returns

It's been nine years since Trask Beaumont left Gilt Edge, Montana, with an unsolved crime in his wake, and Lillian Cahill has convinced herself she's finally over him. But when the rugged cowboy with the easy smile suddenly shows up at her bar, there's a pang in her heart arguing the attraction never faded. And that's dangerous, because Trask has returned on a mission to clear his name and win Lillie back.

Tired of running, Trask knows he must uncover the truth of the past before he can hope for a future with the woman he's never forgotten. But if Lillie's older brother, the sheriff, learns that Trask is back in town, he'll arrest him for murder. Now Trask is looking for a showdown, and he won't leave town again without one—or without Lillie.

I a copy of this book from the author, I was not required to give a favorable review. This was a great story about love, and redeeming once self after 9 years of being gone. Lilly's dad got in trouble again and she is getting out of jail & arguing with her brother the sheriff that dad is ok. When she get back her twin Darby is at their bar to have breakfast. But the once person she is not expected to see since he was trying to hide is Trask, the love of her life and accused of killing his boss 9 years before. Now it is up to them to find out who the real killer is. BJ writes a story so well that you find yourself drawn in to route for the good guys and want the bad guys in jail, but there is also a wonderful love story involved.

What a great start to a new series one full of mystery, suspense with romance and a controlling family. Let’s not forget the father that everyone thinks is crazy. When this books starts off I thought what the heck? It didn’t take long to understand what the start meant as it pulled me in with a read I could not put down. Trask is one sexy man who grew up it just took nine long years, his past hasn’t been nice he has lived through some hard times. He is on the run wanted for a murder he said he didn’t do. Now ready to come back and face the music so he can win his long time love back. He now stands proud and doesn’t back down for anyone. Lillie has been kidding herself she said she is over him and has moved on but she hasn’t. She has waited nine long years for him to come back, there has been no love interest and no romance in her life. Only one man can get her motor running and he just came back to town. This book took me by surprise with who the killer was and why the person did it. Trask and Lillie work together to try and find the killer before he kills again. They also have to hide their romance yet again from her family who has never really cared for Trask. Things get very dangerous as they get closer to finding answers. There is a story inside the story full of mystery and humor. I really liked the nice blend of romance, humor and danger the author gives. Just when you think you might have it worked out you don’t. I loved the buildup of the romance how it plays out and the way Lillie does her best to show him that he isn’t who she has been pinning for. Trask can be a little pushy when he goes after what he wants. He sure is a dream. Who I really liked in this book was Lillie family from her father that kept me smiling to her hard nose brothers who really watches over her. I cannot wait to see how this series plays out and just what trouble her brothers will be getting into. If you are looking for a wonderful suspense, thrilling mystery with some romance this new series is one you should give a try. I just love this author and the way she pulls me in taking me away making me forget I am reading. The characters seem real they have drama, and have totally messed up their lives but they stand up and make you proud. This is a family I would love to be a part of from the over protective brothers to the crazy nut of a father. Book Obsessed Chicks Review

The first installment in an intriguing new heart-racing romantic suspense series from B.J. Daniels! Renegade’s Pride is the first installment in B.J. Daniels' intriguing new Cahill Ranch series centering around the Cahill family in Gilt Edge, Montana. The Cahill family is certainly interesting. It consists of Ely, the family’s reclusive patriarch, who spends much of his time in the mountains panning for gold; It should be noted that Ely is famous for his claim of being abducted by aliens in 1967. Ely has five sons and one daughter. The oldest brother, Tucker, left home shortly after his high school graduation. The next brother, Flint, is the town’s sheriff. Two more brothers, Cyrus and Hawk, run the Cahill Ranch. Finally, twins Lillian and Darby own and run the Stagecoach Saloon, a pub/café which is housed in an historical old building restored from an original stagecoach stop. Much of the family is introduced in this first book. The main story revolves around Lillian Cahill and Trask Beaumont. As the story opens, Lillian is bailing Ely out of jail … again. As she brings him back to The Stagecoach Saloon, she surprisingly sees Trask, her first and only love. Lillian and Trask had been a hot item nine years ago. Trask had been an arrogant, hot-headed cowboy from the other side of the tracks. But, when he started seeing Lillian, he’d changed. They had grandiose plans of building a life together. Then…Trask had an argument with his boss, Gordon Quinn, who was later found dead. Trask ran away rather than facing the music, leaving Lillian alone. Lillian hasn’t heard anything from him in all that time. Now, he’s back, a changed more mature man, to set things right. He wants to clear his name and reclaim the one woman he’s not been able to forget. But, will Lillian give their love a second-chance? Both primary characters were genuine and likable. I found myself pulling for them against seemingly outlandish odds to solve the decade-long cold crime. Ely was a hoot and some of his fears put goosebumps on my arms while I read. We have to wait until the third book for Flint’s story, but I already want to send his manipulative ex packing. I thoroughly enjoyed Renegade’s Pride though, at times, the story was burdened by the need to introduce all the characters and setup the multiple storylines in the series. Unfortunately, the series setup also slightly overwhelmed Lillian’s and Trask’s romance. That said, this series shows a lot of promise and has some really intriguing characters and story threads. I’m excited for the already-announced next two books which will be releasing this year: Outlaw’s Honor, Darby Cahill’s story, and Cowboy’s Legacy, Flint Cahill’s story! I always learn something reading B.J.’s books. Besides refreshing my memory on the silos, thanks to B.J., I now know what ‘catfishing’ is, and, here’s a hint: it doesn’t involve water. Renegade’s Pride has a bit more romantic sizzle than I’m used to in B.J.’s books - I'm not complaining! I do enjoy some steamy with my suspense! However, the big question to be answered herein is will Lillian and Trask unravel the mystery of Gordon Quinn’s death before they also get caught in the killer’s net? Fans of heart-racing romantic suspense will want to check out B.J.’s new Cahill Ranch series to find out! My full review is posted at Reading Between The Wines Book Club. Please check it out there!

I have read several books by Ms. Daniels and they have all been awesome and this one did not disappoint. Second chance romance with great twists and turns. It's been nine years since Lillie Cahill waited hours for Trask Beaumont to run away together with an accusation of murder hanging over his head. Knowing he couldn't do that to her he did the hardest thing, left her behind. Living her dream as co-owner of Stagecoach Saloon with her twin brother Darby, Lillie has made the most of her life and dreams if only she could move past Trask. As if she has congers him up in her mind Trask is back to clear his name and get Lillie back. Lillie tells him she's moved on, if only that was true. She will help him clear his name then he can leave again. Lillie can believe that's she's moved on but Trask will show her he's there to stay and earn her forgiveness. With questions asked and fingers pointed they will stir the beehive and things start to unravel. Trask and Lillie just might not live long enough to prove his innocence. I can not wait to read the next book. *Book Obsessed Chicks Review team
