Overview

The Rescue (Guardians of Ga'Hoole Series #3) by Kathryn Lasky

Now that Soren has been reunited with his sister, Eglantine, he must face his next challenge: making sense of the mysterious disappearance of his mentor, Ezylryb. When Soren discovers that Ezylryb is in danger, he and his friends Gylfie, Twilight, and Digger devise a plan to save the beloved teacher.

In this process, Soren must fight a ferocious foe who wears a terrifying metal beak, sharpened for battle. It's not until the confrontation is over that Soren discovers the true identity of his opponent. The metal beaked warrior is Soren's evil brother, Kludd.

This is a very intriguing series that engages the reader and makes you want to get the next book to see what happens to the various characters. I read this book to my 9 year old and six year old at bed time.

This book is so so so good!!! It will keep you guessing! Eglantine tells Soren more about The Place. You will really want to know who Metal Beak is, and when you do, you will be shocked beyond belief!

Lasky does a fenominal job writing this book. She always brings joy and tears to all of her books. The fact that she did it from Soren view is all the more interesting. Zozo

The first 4 are very good, but it gets boring near the middle of the fifth 1. The 1 on the cover is kludd, who turns into... Well, I;ll let the other reviewers spoil it.

This series is by far one of the best I've ever read. The books are much, much better than the movie. It's amazing how in-depth Kathryn goes to explain the life styles and beliefs of the owls. Also, I love the loose connection she put between the owls and the Others (humans). It lets the readers somewhat connect to the owls themselves, in a way. In general, these books will never bore their readers. The story is always flowing. I never really liked reading very much until I picked up the first book in this series. Now, it's uncommon to see me without my nose poked into Guardians of Ga'Hoole.

If you love books that are full of exciting adventures than this is a great sires for most ages. I would say about sixteen and up. It gets a little graphic for the younger kids.
