Marriage seems to be the solution…until the men change the rules!

TEXAS WEDDING

Susannah Everly is determined to save the family ranch, even if she must marry onetime love Trent Maxwell to do so. They both know this is a business arrangement with rules that do not include rekindling old feelings or surprise midnight seductions. When Trent seems determined to break their agreement, it may be time for Susannah to renegotiate.

A MARRIAGE BETWEEN FRIENDS

When Jill desperately needed a father for her unborn child, Vince Patrizio gave them both his name. Then Jill walked out of his life. Now, years later, it's Vince's turn to have his say. Arriving in Jill's sleepy California town, he has plans to transform it into a mini Vegas…and to turn this convenient marriage into a real one.

About the Author

Kathleen O’Brien is a former feature writer and TV critic who’s written more than 35 novels. She’s a five-time finalist for the RWA Rita award and a multiple nominee for the Romantic Times awards. Though her books range from warmly witty to suspenseful, they all focus on strong characters and thrilling romantic relationships. They reflect her deep love of family, home and community, and her empathy for the challenges faced by women as they juggle today's complex lives.

Melinda grew up on an isolated sheep ranch, where mountain lions had been seen and yet she roamed unaccompanied. Being a rather optimistic, clueless of danger, sort she took to playing "what if" games that led her to become an author. She spends days trying to figure out new ways to say "He made her heart pound." That might sound boring, but the challenge keeps her mentally ahead of her 3 kids and college sweetheart husband.

A marriage of convenience should benefit both parties and make their lives easier, but that's not always the case as proved by these two novels. Texas Wedding is the story of Susannah Maxwell and her bridegroom, Trent. They had fallen in love in high school. The unfortunate death of a friend had driven them apart. Can these two put aside their past and find love and happiness? This is a gripping story filled with pain, regret and a mysterious enemy who wants revenge. Susannah and Trent are memorable characters. I wanted them to face the past and rekindle their love. Kathleen O'Brien is a talented author. This story is well plotted and filled with unexpected twists and turns. A Marriage Between Friends by Melinda Curtis broke my heart. I loved Vince Patrizio and his wife, Jill. They were separated but married. Vince was her protector. Jill had been sexually attacked by a friend in high school and a son was born. The trauma and fear are still there ten years later. Vince is a wonderful hero. He loves Jill and Teddy, but his past makes him afraid to express his feelings. The chemistry between these two shimmers beneath the surface even as they battle. I was touched by how Vince interacted with Teddy. This story is filled with compelling characters and great dialogue. The sleepy California setting and the secondary characters added to the story. I loved Edda Mae. She was such a wise woman. I was hooked from the first page. This story was an emotional roller coaster ride that had me shedding tears. I loved it!

These are two truly enjoyable stories. They draw the reader in and keeps you hooked until the end. These two stories are about friends who marry for convenience which quickly turns to something else. I have read other stories by both of these authors and I continue to enjoy them thoroughly. I am not going to give away any of the stories, but these are great reads.

“Marriage seems to be the solution…until the men change the rules!” Rescued by a Wedding includes two full-length novels, Texas Wedding and A Marriage Between Friends. These marriages of convenience are anything but convenient at times! Great characterization, unique storylines, and a rocky road to romance are found in both of these stories, making them a pleasure to read. I enjoyed Rescued by a Wedding and look forward to reading more from these talented authors! I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts expressed are my own and no monetary compensation was received.

This book consists of two stories, Texas Wedding by Kathleen O'Brian and A Marriage Between Friends by Melinda Curtis. I enjoyed both books and look forward to reading more books by both of these authors. In Texas Wedding Susannah will do anything to save her home even marrying the man that she once loved, but now could barely stand being in the same room with. She just had to keep in mind that their marriage only had to last a year and she would meet all of the requirements of the will and then she could get the money that she needed to keep her home. Trent doesn't just want the marriage to be in name only. He couldn't imagine living with Susannah, but not being with her physically and he knows for sure that he wouldn't stay celibate. Susannah on the other hand didn't want anything to do with Trent these days. He had made his choice all those years ago. He had chosen someone else and left her and their life behind. Yes, Trent had ran, but now he was back and he didn't plan on leaving any time soon. In A Marriage Between Friends Vince shows up in her town wanting to build a Casino. One that Jill doesn't want in her little town. She wants to keep strangers out and away from her and the people that she loves. Everyone had so many questions about who Vince was and what was he doing there? Why did he have the same last name as Jill and what did all of that mean? Even Jill's son wants to know who that stranger is and why does he have the same last name. Is it his Dad? All those years ago Vince had thought he was doing the right thing by marrying Jill, but when she ran away over ten years ago Vince allowed it. He didn't search for her and he didn't seek a divorce, but now he wanted her and divorce wasn't an option. They both now had grown up, developed some maturity and had wounds that needed healing that they both could help each other with. I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone. Lori P

These two full-length books are about couples who knew each other back when they were growing up and become married as a matter of convenience. I enjoyed reading these reissues. In Texas Wedding by Kathleen O'Brien,Trent and Susannah marry because of the circumstances of Susannah's grandfather's will. She must stay married for a year in order to save Everly, the family peach farm and ranch. Eleven years ago, when Trent, Susannah, Chase, and Paul were in high school, a tragedy happened. Trent left, but returned years later to face what happened in their past and try to heal his and his friends' wounds. Malicious things happen that are aimed at Trent, which makes the story exciting while you wonder who is behind them. Add in Missy, who once had a fling with Trent and wants him back, and sparks fly, not just from her, but from Susannah, too. In A Marriage Between Friends by Melinda Curtis, Jill's friend Vince married her as a matter of convenience, when Jill was pregnant with a child not of his own. Jill ran from Vince on the day they married and they don't meet up again until 11 years later. From Las Vegas where they grew up to Shady Oak in Railroad Stop, CA, where Jill ended up living and working, this is about healing deep insecurities from the past. They became reacquainted when Vince went to Railroad Stop to make a bid on the property in the valley below Shady Oak for building a casino. This was the last chance he had to prove himself as worthy to this grandfather. Jill is afraid of romance and everything that comes with it due to Craig. Vince feels like he has been a failure at life and that he has disappointed his grandfather. Teddy, ten years old, whose biological father has never been in his life, needs a daddy. All three of them have some healing to do. Read this to see not only what happens, but when.

I'll start off my review with Book 2: A Marriage Between Friends by Melinda Curtis first as this was the story I really liked.  A Marriage Between Friends had a storyline that was different from the usual storylines I've read. I've read about estranged marriages but A Marriage Between Friends was slightly different from the usual. A husband and wife who had never really been husband and wife except for the marriage cert that they have. But what made them stay married even after 10 years? Both of them have their reasons and they both learn why when Vince came to the town where his wife was living in to try to build a casino which his wife, the mayor of the town was against. Really great and interesting storyline which kept me amused and entertained. Not only that, it was sweet and endearing and it just keep me reading to see how Vince and Jill would get their HEA. Book 1: Texas Wedding by Kathleen O'Brien was slightly more difficult to enjoy. Overall it was a nice story but I wasn't too keen on the actions and behavior of Susannah. I felt it was kinda extreme so it didn't really appeal to me that much. But I still feel that it is worth reading.

Texas Wedding by Kathleen O'Brien A marriage meant only as a business arrangement. But Trent has other ideas. Will Susannah start to see things his way? A great story!  A Marriage Between Friends by Melinda Curtis Jill needed Vince to marry her, but he hasn't seen her since then. What will happen when they accidentally meet up again? Can they find love with each other? Melinda Curtis writes wonderful stories and this is no exception!

Rescued by a Wedding is a two novel book that contains Texas Wedding by Kathleen O’Brien and A Marriage Between Friends by Melinda Curtis.  Each story portrays marriage of convenience from different perspectives. A tangle of emotions ramp up the tension in each book and engage the readers to experience the angst of the women as they struggle through decisions about the marriage.  Melinda Curtis does an outstanding job of depicting the challenges of balancing the pressures of a woman’s ordinary life. Her characters pop out with a realness that engages the reader to want to know what happens next. I really loved this book.

Loved both of these stories and definitely recommend this book to everyone! First was Texas Wedding by Kathleen O'Brien which was a fabulous second chance/pretend marriage story. Susannah Everly must marry to fulfill her grandfather's will and keep the farm. She ends up marrying high school flame Trent Maxwell. They have a troubled past and putting that past aside proves difficult. A great story! Second was A Marriage Between Friends by Melinda Curtis which was another incredible second chance/pretend marriage story. Jill and Vince married years ago when Jill found herself alone and pregnant, but on their wedding night she walked out and never looked back. When Vince decides that the small town Jill settled in is the perfect location for his casino expansion they are reunited but are on opposites sides of the issue. This is a great story that has them dealing with the past as well as the future. It's a good one.
