Trapped together in the wilderness, they’ll discover opposites don’t just attract—they ignite…
Russell Cheng is always ready to swoop in and save the day, which along with his superhero good looks makes him the perfect fire fighter. He readily agrees to take a professor on a wilderness research trip, but when she turns out to be the one-night stand who’s haunted him, he vows to get her back in his bed. Only this time, he won’t let pull a disappearing act.
Beatriz Schuler doesn’t waste time on blind dates or finding Mr. Right—and she definitely doesn’t do one-night stands. But when she comes face-to-face with the smoking hot fire fighter who broke all her rules, there’s nowhere to run come morning.
When their trip takes a turn into danger, Bea and Russ have to pretend to be married in order to survive. But as their pretend marriage begins to feel all too real, can their relationship move from fiction to fact?

When the man hired to take her into the California wilderness is none other than her hot fireman one night stand, Bea has to come to terms with her social awkwardness. Bea is a complicated heroine that I totally identified with, and Russ, oh my god, I loved him! Saving people is his life's ambition, and he was the sweetest guy ever. Totally looking forward to the next book in the series.
If painters have a style then writers must, too. Genevieve Turner’s books have a special “feel” to them that makes me happy when I read them. In this story Beatriz and Russ, who met on a hot blind date a while ago, unexpectedly meet again when Bea asks for a guide to lead her to some wild Penstemon she needs for her lab experiments. Bea is prickly and cold…or is she…perhaps she is just analytical and curious but without people skills. Russ is a people pleaser with a superhero wannabe character. The two will have a LOT of time together on the trail, meet some interesting characters, deal with danger and there will be pain. The question is whether or not the two will realize they care for one another and then be willing to take the steps required to be together after the hike is finished. Thoroughly enjoyable! I look forward to the next installment in this series! Thank you to the author for the copy to read and review. 4.5 Stars
