Never having read any other books by Diane Capri, I had no expectations one way or another with this story. I'm happy to say it is excellent! The premise is solid. Andi's boss at her California law firm is caught embezzling clients' money. Though innocent, Andi is caught in the crossfire. She turns to her best friend, Ginny, and lands a job at her family's hotel on Frontenac Island in Lake Michigan. The dialogue is smart, interesting, amusing, and realistic. The characters are complex and feel like real people. The good guys have appeal. Andi is smart, stubborn, honorable, and likeable. There are lots of interesting familial dynamics between Andi and her parents, between Andi and Ginny's family, and between Ginny and her own family. The mystery is clever and multi-faceted. It has lots of red herrings and some interesting twists. It concludes in a logical and satisfying manner. This is NOT a cliffhanger. Based on the assorted subplots and familial dynamics in this book, I believe some possible material for further books in the series will include: closure re: Andi's loss of her job at the law firm, potential romance for Andi with one of two intriguing guys, and some potentially explosive family dramas. I am looking forward to reading more of this smart and entertaining series.

This is a departure from the usual Diane Capri novel, but she never disappoints and certainly doesn’t with this new series. I was privileged to receive an ARC of this excellent cozy mystery which has enough intrigue to keep you guessing to the end. The characters are well-developed, especially Andi, the ex-lawyer turned hotel concierge - and there’s a story there as well -who attracts disaster and gorgeous men while stumbling across dead bodies, in this case, beside the hotel swimming pool. Was it an accident or was something more sinister at play? Of course, Andi’s curiosity and lawyerly skills take over, leading her on an adventure down an exciting and perilous path. Get this book. Get the entire series. You won’t regret it.

This mystery runs appx 178 nk pgs the story line flows well and the characters are believeable. There's a mystery within a mystery surrounding the main female character which doesn't get resolved in this storyline, it doesn't detract from the read at all it just makes you want to buy the next bk to see more infomation about the main female character. This mystery is not violent with blood and gore so if your like me and like easier mysteries this is a good read for you. I love the cover design. I'm looking forward to purchasing the next bk jn this series.....vw
