About the Author

Meet Amy Brock McNew. Author. Fighter. Musician. Former nurse and martial artist. This wife and mom is a lover of music, chocolate, the beach, and cherry vanilla Coke. Her home is a zoo, filled with teenagers-both hers and those she seems to collect-and animals of all kinds. Strangely enough, her kids are the ones who have to tell her to turn the music down.
Amy and her Taekwondo-instructor husband are constantly acting like overgrown kids-and loving every minute of it. She longs for the day when her husband retires so she can write her adventures of love and war on a back porch overlooking the ocean. In flip flops.

This book was intensely brutally for most of it. I don't mean that in a bad way because as it's been shown with Liz and Ry's story before, it's anything but easy. Yet, I wasn't quite prepared for this new part of their journey. Could have been my pregnant emotions, but their story really goes to what feels Hell and back. I really started to question if there could even be a light at the end of the tunnel! Thankfully, there is very much a beautiful light and it's powerful. Truly this title deeply reflects all that happens. I felt this book was really Ry's story. Yes, it was Liz's too, but we see a whole new side of Ry that left me asking, "What is he doing?!" numerous times. I was beyond thankful for a turn-of-events (though not necessarily how it happened) because I felt I was even at a breaking point. One powerful thing I took away from this book: You are truly never in the battle alone. Yes, you might have to fight personal demons one-on-one, but that doesn't mean you are forsaken by a loving God, family, or friends. There is ALWAYS someone helping you fight. If you are looking for a deep read, I strongly recommend this one. Be prepared though: You are in for a whirlwind of a ride.
