Overview

Resist Me (McCoy Raven Brothers, #1) by A.O. Peart

Book One in the steamy suspense series McCoy Raven Brothers. Each book in this series is a standalone and can be read in any order.
Due to strong language and mature situations, this novel is intended for adult readers only.

One fateful morning changes everything.

Lisbeth, the lone eyewitness of a shocking murder, believes the FBI witness protection program may be the only way for her to survive. But when a powerful explosion reduces the safe house to ashes, killing all of the FBI agents on duty, will she turn to a perfect stranger for help?

Ethan, a former-Marine-turned-firefighter, has never really cared for any woman. He lives his life to the fullest, enjoying the bad boy stigma and cultivating a particular taste for dominant sex. Girls come and go, allowed to stay only long enough to satisfy Ethan’s wild appetite.

One morning at dawn, Ethan’s fire brigade is called to a fatal house explosion that levels the structure. When he pries open a trap door to the hidden panic room under the house, he finds a gorgeous, though disheveled brunette. Lisbeth instantly turns Ethan’s world upside down, and he’s overcome by the burning desire to protect her, no matter the consequences.

I was given book for honest review. Firefighter ex-marine Ethan takes home FBI witness Gloria/Lisbeth in order to protect her. Loved all the different sides and views of the characters. Ethan strong, controlled, dominant ladies man, but with bouts of a kind family man peaking through. Gloria intelligent, independent, beautiful, but with bouts of weakness to give one a since of realness. More emphasis is placed on the mystery/suspense however the attraction between the two is off the charts. Looking forward to future books especially the twins as I told A.O. Peart when she asked.

Looking for a book that has a mix of mystery, thriller, suspense, romance and a hot fireman? If you said yes, then this is the book for you. Even without everything else I was hooked with hot fireman. Ethan is a former Marine and he is hot. He is equals parts compassionate, caring, dominant and have a mentioned hot. Lisbeth is a witness to a crime and is in hiding until her location is compromised. Go and read this book now. Also, there are hot brothers as well.

A MUST READ!!! Lisbeth has had her whole world turned upside down. She is the sole survivor of a murder and now must give up her identity and live in the witness protection program being protected by FBI Agents. That is until the safe house there living at explodes killing the FBI Agents. Ethan is a firefighter who finds Lisbeth. He is immediately taken by her, he knows she has nobody she can turn too and no one to keep her safe. Ethan feels it's his job to protect her.  This book is Hot, you won't be able to resist it. Amazing Book A.O. Peart I can't wait for your next book.

I really enjoyed this fast paced and intense romantic suspense story. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that there is a delicious ex-Marine Firefighter in it…or maybe 2. I was easily engrossed in the story and read it in just a few hours. Lisbeth (a.k.a. Gloria) and Ethan have an instant connection the first time the see each other but shy away from it to a certain extent for different reasons. Ethan could have any woman he wants (and he usually does) but with Lisbeth it’s different. He wants to protect her but also is extremely attracted to her and her personality. Lisbeth is strong and a fighter. She’s had to endure a lot just growing up and then to top it off, she’s the only witness to a crime. She is leery of most men, except for Ethan. I really admired her and her strength. Despite her few panic attack (and really you can’t blame her for those) she’s tough and put together. Both of the are extremely stubborn and I found them very enjoyable to read about. The story line was very interesting. It was suspenseful but also had that romance that blossoms over time. I could really feel Lisbeth’s emotions pouring out of the pages as she talked about not only the incident that she witnessed but also her rough upbringing in the foster system and on the streets. It was also easy to see the love and loyalty Ethan has for his friends. I loved the characters and I can’t wait to read more about the McCoy gang. 4 out of 5 stars!

I love this author! She changed genres and her books are still interesting. I like all her other books that I read and I could not put this one down either. At first I was skeptical because it was a crime drama romance but, it was interesting from beginning to end. It does not disappoint and will keep you wanting more as you turn the next page. I cannot wait for the next book.

I have received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.#aopeart This story is different from her Almost Bad Boys series.  While the common thread is still Happily Ever After with hot steamy scenes, Resist Me is more of a romance thriller.  You have Lisbeth and Ethan, one has trouble trusting government authority (being in witness protection can do that), while the other questions his reasoning and motives, but with a strong protective side.  Together they just heat up the story.  This story draws you in and holds you, you almost wish it would never end. Just as with any other Happily Ever After story, you KNOW how it will end, but the great enjoyment is how they get there.   I don’t like giving complete detailed story lines in reviews, because it bothers me to read them.  “Why bother purchasing and reading the book?;” the review already gave you everything.  So while I loved this story and can’t wait for the next one, I will not give away all the details that makes this story so special.  If you'd love to read about A HOT HOT FIREMAN who is also a former Marine (Ethan, my new book boyfriend) then this is the perfect story and you need to make it your next read.

Writing Style: A.O. Peart always finds a way to stun me. Resist Me is so delectable you will gobble it up in one setting! The character development was superb. The thriller aspects will make you grip the edge of your seat and the romance will make your heart skip a beat! You will have a hard time "resisting" this book! My Overall Opinion: I have never read anything so quickly in my lifespan. After I finished, I felt like I went on one hell of an adventure and needed to take a nap. Fortunately, this book provided more than enough material for an amazing dream.... Thank You Ethan... you sir are one sexy beast! The sexual tension and desire between Lizbeth and Ethan develops from the moment they meet. They want each other so badly but because of the circumstances they know that would put them both in danger. The title fits this book perfectly... because they fight to"resist" each other... but fate has different plans. When they finally do give away to their desires, it is STUNNING, BREATH-TAKING, and HOT. My Opinion on the Characters: Ethan McCoy. The name drips from one's mouth. This man is perfect in just about every way. He's a firefighter, ex-marine... who enjoys reading, cooking, providing sexual fulfillment, and protecting his women. He also is a master of self-control and being the ultimate badass! What more can you ask for in a partner? He's a gorgeous piece of work, I hope he makes another appearance in a book VERY soon. Lizbeth is pretty incredible herself. It's refreshing to see a female character who is independent and strong-willed. She is intelligent with book and street-smarts...she isn't afraid to speak her mind. She's witty and able to fend for herself. She IS NOT a damsel in distress...she is a real ass-kicking beautiful woman! Together, she and Ethan make the perfect match! To-Read or Not-To-Read: READ. RIGHT NOW. The action scenes are fast-paced and are filled with suspenseful moments. My heart was racing in anticipation of what was going to happen next. The sexual scenes elevated my pulse... needless to say this book gave my heart lots of exercise. I enjoyed this book so much I felt like rereading it again...like literally right after I just finished it! Which for me is rare because I seldom re-read books... so that alone attests to how good this book is.

** I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. ~Sexy firefighter Ethan, he is very moody and an extreme dominant male. Also a ladies man, they are just drawn to him.  ~Quiet, and reserved Gloria/Lisbeth recovering from some severe Post Traumatic Stress. She is also drawn to Ethan, but more because he makes her feel safe and secure. ~Jack, Ethan's cousin, is a great supporting character. He has some anger issues but also provides the comic relief in a tense situation. ~This book was full of sexual tension between Ethan and Lisbeth, I was dying wondering if anything would ever happen! I can't tell you if anything did or not,you will have to read. But I will say-I was still dying at the end. (wink) ~Not to mention the suspense of what was happening in Lisbeth's life. Would they find her, would the FBI protect her, Would Ethan protect her? This book was a wild ride of emotions.  As always with Ms. Peart, I look forward to more.

'I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review' My Rating: 5 Hearts Gloria/Lisbeth is in witness protection after witnessing a horrible crime. After they found her again and blew up her safe house she knows that she is not safe and makes the decision to leave witness protection. Then she meets Ethan and knowing that he is the playboy type and she shouldn't trust him she does anyways. They come up with a plan to sneak her away to go stay with Ethan under his protection for a few days. Ethan is attracted to Gloria/Lisbeth right away. However he is a player and he knows he won't be any good for her. He can't just let her go off on her own knowing that she won't be safe. So he and his friend Chris come up with a plan to get her away to go stay with him for a few days. He is definitely attracted to her but has a lot of reasons to "resist" his attraction to her. Giving his word to keep her safe being one of them. My Opinion: I loved this book. It was different then her Almost Bad Boys Series. This one is more of a Thriller or maybe even a Romantic Thriller. The basics of it are. She witnessed a crime and is not safe in witness protection, he offers to keep her safe, they run into a few issues along the way. Their attraction to each other being one of them. They both have their own reasons to "resist" that attraction. I can't rate the editing of the book as I had an unedited copy. I can rate the story itself which again I loved. It is definitely worth reading and I highly recommend. 'Read and Reviewed by LSK Sweetheart Reviews'

Definitely a must read for those who love men in uniforms. Learning about Ethan's past as a Marine to the present as a firefighter is interesting of how they connect at some point. In comes Jack, Ethan's cousin and best friend plus a fellow Marine turned firefighter. Add Elisbeth to the picture as the sole witness to a crime that involved a best friend who was raped then murder by a gang member. While (Gloria) Elisbeth was under the care with the FBI, her safe house was blown to bits, decided to leave the care to be with Ethan as her protector. What happens next is for you, reader, to decide when reading this book.

Okay, you have to overlook the errors which I attribute to the lack of a good proofreader/editor. That being said, the story is intetesting, good tension between the characters, and a pretty good storyline. You can already tell that with such a large family, there will be plenty of folk to choose from. I want to meet Grandma Ruth! This is a fast read, 200+ pages and it kept my attention. Hope the following books do as well.

What is it about firemen that make us all swoon? I honestly think it goes beyond their physique - so muscular, full of power to move heavy items, their bravery which makes them so unique. How often do you see a normal person running into a burning building? I think a great part of the attraction is because they make us feel so secure and safe. They represent that very primal instinct to protect and save those in dire needs. Saving lives and property is their mantra. In this first installment of the Change Me Series, we meet up with Ethan. He comes from a large family where everyone has each others backs. Even his cousin Jack works next to him in his team at the firehouse. They are both ex-Marines and as such, their word is their bond and protecting others comes naturally. Ethan's world is about to get more complicated as his team is called to handle a warehouse explosion. With the FBI swarming the site, he immediately realizes there is more to this than meets the eye. As he helps extract a young woman from a hidden panic room, he is struck by her beauty and innocence. The immediate attraction and the complications of keeping her safe, soon appeal to his instincts to protect and he volunteers to keep her safe. Feds dying, a gang of murderous rapists after her, and a leak at the FBI divulging her whereabouts, make Lizbeth uneasy and feel unsafe under the Witness Protection program. Her immediate attraction to Ethan convinces her she should trust him to keep her safe. And so begins their story of subterfuge and suspense. This story is full of tension both from the bodily threats and the emerging attraction between Lizbeth and Ethan. It will keep you glued to this story while you follow their journey to possible safety.

I was given this book to leave an honest review.. Where do I begin? From early in the book I had a feeling something world happen between Ethan and Gloria but I had no idea what was in store for me! I love how Ethan is very protective of "Gloria" even from the moment he meets her- and their chemistry is just outstanding. This was a quick read for me which means it was hard to put down. I think if you give it a shot you won't be disappointed!!

This book was received in exchange for an honest review It was DNF at 16%. If you have triggers to sexual abuse and only can read things where sexual assaults/abuse is handled delicately, DONT READ THIS BOOK.  SPOILERS BELOW..... BE WARNED..... I really struggled with the writing ability in this book, however, it was not the reason I DNF'd. I'm usually able to finish books fully even if I don't think the writing is where it should be. My main problem in this book was that the female main character's back story was that she was on the run from having witnessed the violent gang rape and murder of her best friend. Instead of helping her friend, calling out for someone to help her, trying to stop the attackers, screaming, anything.... she hid and watched and videotaped the LONG gang rape and murder.  My problem with this is that first, no recent human being would sit and watch that, or video tape it, and most definitely not be silent and not help that entire time. It made me despise the heroine so much that I couldn't continue with the book anymore on principle. Sexual assault is such a sensitive topic, one that so many readers have experienced or been involved with in some way. Stories like this should be carefully researched and handled, and this just wasn't. I'm sorry, I wanted to like it, but I just couldn't. It was insulting and insensitive and I won't be reading any more in this series, possibly by this author, because of it.

This book has been spell checked, but nothing else!!! It is very distracting trying to read with all the errors. It  Seems as though maybe someone who doesn't know English well wrote it. Articles like " the" and "a" are placed  Where they are not needed, and missing where they are. Also verb tenses are all messed up.  Why isn't this  Edited?? It was very annoying to read. I took French and know that the use of articles is very different from English, so I am assuming that is what happened here, the author speaks Polish or something and messed Up On the English grammar. Why would you sell a book and not fix that?

A little under 200 pgs and it is another "moving along nicely" story that just BAM ends. It is like the author realized she had an hour to finish it.
