Caroling Mermaids, Snow in Florida, and Matchmaking Parrots – Who can Resist Love in Mistletoe Key?
Mistletoe Key takes Christmas traditions very seriously. So when Eliza Hart advocates for a gender-inclusive Santa late one night on public radio, she inadvertently sets off an historic island-wide scandal. After years away, she’s just returned to the island but once again she’s persona non grata, fighting the patriarchy one Santa suit at a time.
Tiki bar owner Shep Butler had a childhood crush on Eliza and while she’s stirring up trouble in town, he can’t help the feelings she’s stirring up in him. He’s always been fascinated with her eyes and her freckles, but now her grown-up feminist opinions are a package deal and maybe even a deal breaker.
On an island where Christmas is celebrated 365 days a year, can Eliza and Shep find room at the inn for different opinions – and love – before politics and tradition tear them apart?
RESISTING SANTA, Book 1 of the Mistletoe Key Series, is a charming island holiday romance for fans of Jill Shalvis, Rae Anne Thayne, and Kristan Higgins.

On Mistletoe Key, it’s Christmas every day, a feature that makes for fun filled visits from tourists and a booming economy for its residents. But when Eliza Hart advocates for breaking up some of the stereotypical traditions during a late night radio hosting stint, it brings everyone out of the woodwork – those who want things to remain like they’ve always been and those who see the value in accepting that the Key needs to change. Tiki Bar owner Shep Butler figures one way to support Eliza (whom he’s had a crush on for years) would be to accept the challenge to participate in the local beauty pageant. Yes, he’ll be the only guy in a speedo for the competition but it will give his bar some good publicity and remind the citizens that they are all due for some progressive thinking. As they upend and modernize the holiday, will they also find a little extra gift for themselves? Reading this sure makes me wish there was such a place as Mistletoe Key! The idea that one can celebrate Christmas all year, but in a tropical environment sure sounds like fun, even if fake snow is required. Eliza and Shep have great chemistry and though they’ve danced around any involvement for years, Eliza’s desire to resist the status quo and speak her mind means that she needs all the support that she can get – which Shep is happy to provide. They share some sexy scenes together as the real Christmas draws near and the town shows its true colours. There’s a happy ending for our couple, lots of laughs for the island, and a generous helping of holiday spirit. I’m looking forward to reading more stories set in Mistletoe Key!
