“Resurrection: Book One of Chronicles of the Dragonoid” by Brian Rankin and published by Page Publishing, is an exciting sci-fi/fantasy tale that has all the makings of a great epic Hollywood flick: intrigue, war, love, heroes, courage, friendship, fortitude, fidelity, and devotion are all creatively interwoven within the universal theme of good versus evil. “Resurrection” is the story of Atticus, a champion who has tirelessly worked in his preparation to compete in the annual games that commemorate the sacrifice of their heroes of old in the four-nation land of Valat. The games come to an abrupt halt when attacked by the same ancient force that sought to destroy Valat centuries earlier. Atticus and his friends survive the brutal attack and embark on a perilous journey to the Firelands to warn the Lords and raise their armies to help save the day. Atticus and company are Valat’s only hope of survival. In the process, Atticus discovers that he himself is a Dragonoid, a descendant of a proud and honorable warrior clan. At its core, this is truly a story of what legends are made of. This is Rankin’s first published novel and is the first in the “Chronicles of the Dragonoid” series. Book Two, “Reckoning,” has already been published, with books Three and Four soon to be completed. The tomes are also accented with original illustrations by the author. Written with the similar flare as the “Lord of the Rings” and the “Star Wars” sagas, the 592-page “Resurrection” promises to stimulate the reader’s imagination while keeping him/her in gripping interest with every chapter. A real page turner.
