RETURN (Coming Home #1) by Meli Raine

On a dark, rainy night I drove my overstuffed junker car back to a town I never expected to see again.

And when I needed a rescue by the side of the road, a six-foot tall piece of hot, unfinished business named Mark was what the universe sent me.

Three years earlier I’d fled town (and Mark) to follow my wrongly-convicted father to his federal prison, working crappy jobs to stay afloat and visit him every second I could. But now Dad’s dead and I’m mysteriously offered the best job of my life at the college where his life blew up when he was accused of a crime he didn’t commit.

Someone wants me here. Desperately.

I’m hoping it’s Mark.

Because if it’s not, I’m in more danger than I ever imagined.

And if it is?

Mark may be the most dangerous choice of all.

RETURN is book 1 in the Coming Home romantic suspense trilogy by USA Today bestselling author Meli Raine.

Carrie is returning to her home town. After years away and to many bad memories, she was offered a job at the university and it was to good to pass up. Wouldn't you know it the first person she runs into is her ex Officer Mark Paulson. She wonders if he has forgiven her for leaving without a word. Yet does it really matter since her father was arrested and sent to prison. He never even warned her. So much has changed and yet stayed the same. The man her father said set him up is now Carrie's boss. Women are going missing and it just seems as if no body is who think they are. I loved this story. So much going on. I don't know who to trust or what the truth is. Carrie is strong, but in the short time she has been home. So much has happened. Mark I am not sure about. There is something about him that seems off. I hope it is nothing bad. On one hand I think I would be running back out of town. Not looking for justice. What a fantastic start to the series. I couldn't put the book down and then a major cliffhanger. I am hoping I don't have to wait to long for the next book. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Complimentary copy provided by author for an honest review and OMG again an amazing start of a new series. I had trouble putting it down and then in the end you get this BIG cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next books. It all starts when Carrie returns after 3 years to her hometown after her father was wrongly convicted for drug dealing. What she didn't expected was to run into her HOT ex-boyfriend Officer Mark Paulson right after she experienced a flat tire. She wants to find out the truth because she knows her father was innocent. But nothing goes like it should be, her best friend gets kidnapped, there's a strange behaving assistant professor. And not to mention the one who's accused her father is now the new Dean and her newest employer. So if you love all these intrigues get your copy and start reading. Did I mention I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!

I just finished reading Return and all I can say is, this book does not disappoint. Meli Raine has a way with words that lets a reader know that she loves to write. Well-written with an excellent plot, dialogue, and great characters. Return is an amazing story full of suspense, mystery, revenge, heartache, secrets, lies, deceit, attraction, and sexual tension. It will grab you in the prologue and won't let you go until you've read the final page and having you gasping for more. I absolutely loved this book but now my problem is I need more!

I was gifted a copy of this book for review. Holy smokes this book grabs you from the first. It is full of suspense and intrigue. Carrie has returned home after her father's death. Everything she finds is different except for how Mark makes her feel. But with the secrets and lies she knows she needs to stay clear. She finds an unpleasant surprise in her new boss and just days after her return the unthinkable happens. This book is an amazing start and I can't wait to read the next one.

I loved this first installment of Meli Raine's new series. This book has it all: intrigue, mystery, revenge, great characters, and of course romance. Carrie returns to her hometown three years after she left in a hurry to follow her father to a prison out of state, when he is convicted of selling drugs. She immediately encounters Mark, her ex- boyfriend and cop who arrested her father. He wants her back, but can Carrie get passed the betrayal she feels for him? Can Mark protect her from the danger lurking? I can't wait to read the next installment to find out what happens!!! I was given a free ARC From this author in exchange for an honest review.

I found Meli Raine in the Breaking Away series and was happy to learn there would be a story about Mark, Chase's brother. This story is filled with love, hate, suspense, heartbreak, lost love and lost family. Carrie left without a word three years ago and Mark wants answers but he will have to give his own answers too. Mark is the officer who arrested her father on drug charges and he was later killed in prison. Now Carrie is back in her home town to see if she can find out the truth. She knows it will not bring her father back but she and the whole town will know the truth. And who is kidnapping all these young ladies? Can Mark keep her safe when all the crazy stuff begins? Will Carrie give Mark the chance to explain what happened three years ago? What does Eric and Claudia have to do when it is all said and done? And don't forget that there is a killer cliffhanger and I need book 2 NOW. **Copy provided by the author in exchange for my honest review**

Fantastic! Can anyone blame Carrie for wanting justice, for taking back her life. Unfortunately, something's not quite right. Women are being kidnapped, people are hiding information and others are trying to threaten Carrie. Through it all, sexy police officer, Mark, looks at Carrie with hunger in his eyes. Is this hunk of an ex-boyfriend keeping his own secrets? Does he know more than he should? Does he want Carrie back or is he just trying to protect her? Meli Raine has left me hanging with an enormous cliffhanger but it's going to be worth the wait! A MUST read!

Cliffhanger. Over 100 pages and two more books. It could've been great if it's a whole books instead of 3

I really like this story but it's just a tease to get you to buy more. Less than 130 pages and a complete cliffhanger with 2 books to follow. Disappointed.

The writing droned on and on about unnecessary details to ensure the 134 page book got nowhere. Then it gave a little importance and slammed into a cliffhanger. The story itself was definitely not good enough to merit 2.99 to find out what happens next.

The story starts off with Carrie coming back home after being away for 3 years. She left to be closer to her dad who was put in prison and whom she believes was wrongly convicted of the crime. His death in prison, even though it was ruled as suicide, was one of the red flags that things were not what it seemed. After accepting a job offer at the university, she makes her return, along with plans to seek the truth out. She hit a flat tire and unexpected help came in the form of Mark, her ex boyfriend. There was quite a lot of tension and suspense in this story with Carrie being back in town, the attraction between Mark and Carrie, the girls who had gone missing and things that she was uncovering while working in the university. Mark definitely knows more that he is revealing and the suspense is killing. Not forgetting to mention, I was totally engrossed and had forgotten that this story was in parts so the cliffhanger caught me unaware and it was frustrating! Mind you that the cliffhanger is a MAJOR one and I am anxiously and impatiently waiting for the next instalment. I was given an advance copy of this book by the author in exchange for a honest review.

Wow. I did not expect that at all! I have been super busy and in a total reading funk that nothing has kept my attenion. This book had everything I needed and more. Holy hotness mixed in with mystery and suspense. Carrie has quite the story, she is moving back to her hometown she left three years ago to follow her wrongfully accused father in prison. Now her father is dead and she was offered a job that she couldn't turn down. When Carrie left town she left Mark behind. Oh Mark, please be good.

This is a wonderful start to another great series. Carrie is returning home after three years away. She wants justice in the worst way for so many things. She wants it heart, for her dad, and for the lives that were ruined by lies and betrayal. What she doesn't expect is what is just the beginning of many twist. She doesn't want to see the one person that is the first person she sees when returning. Mark. her police officer ex-boyfriend who betrayed her. She doesn't want to want him but she cant help feeling what her body wants. Mark was just trying to do his job when he had to arrest Carrie's father. But when she left without word he was hurt. It still doesn't change how he feels for her. But when he sees her he knows something but cant say anything. He wants to protect Carrie but how can he without revealing what he knows. But just what is it that he knows. Things change when Carrie's best friend is kidnapped. How will Mark protect her now?

Wow but dang I need the next book now. Great storyline. Author does a wonderful job of dragging you into the story and making you feel like you are there with them. Wasn't expecting that last chapter to end quite that way

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. The first book totally has me hooked! Carrie has returned home after 3 years following her dads wrongly conviction. She has come home to find jutice for those really committed the crime that her dad lost his life for. Her ex-boyfriend is still hanging around but what does he have to do with the case against her father? And then her best friend gets kidnapped. What I like most about Melis' writing is that her stories tend to bd romances wrapped in mystery. Can't wait to read the next book and see if I can figure it out.

As you can tell, this is a verified purchase. However, I did receive an ARC in return for a honest review and loved it so much, I bought it immediately! I just finished reading it and the suspense for the next book is already killing me! Meli is an amazing author and I've read everything she's written so far. I don't want to write too much because I'd probably end up spoiling it for everyone. Read Meli's Chasing Allie Series and start reading this one! You don't need to read the other series first, but I promise you will not regret it!

Meli Raine is doing it again with this first book in the Coming Home trilogy! Her descriptive prose hooks you from the start and then she reels you right into the story and doesn't let go. You can't help but feel every emotion Carrie experiences, whether it's happy or sad, love or hate. There is so much happening in Return, the first volume of the Coming Home series, that to attempt to discuss it all in a short summary will probably make little sense. After her father's death, Carrie Myerson returns to her hometown three years after having abandoned it, and all she knew and loved, to be near her wrongly convicted and imprisoned father. She returns seeking the justice that her father was denied. Her return immediately embroils her into a myriad of mysteries and the emotional upheaval that she had escaped from three years earlier. So many people from her past are involved and, other than her best friend, Amy, she can't be sure who to trust or to determine what she can believe. And to add insult to injury, in the midst of all of this, she is further affected by a series of related kidnappings. Of course there is a cliffhanger at the end of this book. And, of course I am dying to know what will happen next. I received an ARC of this book for an honest review but, of course, I am going to be looking anxiously forward to the rest of this series regardless. And you will be too. Make sure you have a few hours to spare before starting this book because once you start it you, too, will be hooked.
