Return of the Chauffeur's Son by Tara Lain

A Movie Magic Romance

Luca McGrath may be returning to Napa Valley, California, as a promising chef with dreams of starting his own restaurant and winery, but his heart still lives with the bad-boy son of a billionaire, James Armstrong. Luca spent his childhood playing games with the golden boy of California society, so blinded by James he barely noticed the dark, quiet lure of his conservative older brother, Dylan Armstrong.

But now Luca’s home, and his own powers of attraction are enough to make James question his dedicated heterosexuality and his promised marriage to a wealthy and powerful businesswoman. The obvious attraction between Luca and James spurs Dylan into action—but he’s fighting a huge secret. While Luca dreamed of James, Dylan dreamed of Luca. When Luca gets caught in the struggle between the brothers and gets accused of culinary espionage he’s ready to chuck the fairy tale—unable to even imagine Dylan’s power to make his dreams come true.

This book is quite possibly my very favorite book by this author. I loved Luca and Dylan. All of The Supporting Cast were interesting and intriguing. Happy reading everyone.

Return of the Chauffeur's Son by Tara Lain is a wonderful take on an old trope. I don’t want to give away anything so I will just say it was a fun trip watching love prevail. There were times I wanted to smack Luca upside his head for missing the obvious but he had to come to it on his own and oh what fun the ride is. I totally enjoyed watching Luca grow up and find love. I adored his father and was doing the happy dance at the end.

This was such a refreshing read! There were no villains exactly and for the most part everyone behaved like adults. James was sort of an idiot and Luca had a rather juvenile crush that blinded him to the truth, but neither one let it completely rule them or anything. They didn't ruin their lives or become doormats. Dylan was so sweet and I just adored him even if he was a big dummy when it came to recognizing his own feelings. I like Luca's attitude towards his future a lot too. He was realistic and determined and genuinely loved what he did. Together Luca and Dylan just made me swoon. Return of the Chauffeur's Son has it all - lovable characters, endearing trials, and even a little espionage to make things even more interesting. The ending was perfect and it all just left me so happy!

Spoiler free review. Who knew the world of the crème de la crème of the a la carte menu could not only be so cutthroat/ruthless/aggressive but also, sexy as hell all at the same time? If I was ever on a panel of Book Inspectors looking to award a mythical Literary Michelin Star for Romance Reads, Tara Lain would be one of my nominations. I’ve just gormandised myself on her latest offering, The Return of the Chauffeur’s Son. For me, it was a readers gourmet delight. The quality of the storyline was yet again delivered to perfection. Her research a banquet of exceptionality and her level of creativity in her secondary characters were like hot spicy hors d’oeuvres - the perfect accompaniment to the two/three protagonists. Are you fed up with all the food references? Feel that I'm Fangirling too much? Well I'm sorry but I'm not apologising, this book was a sumptuous delight, I devoured it. Five big fat gourmet stars from me.
