I really enjoyed this one. The love story was sweet, the romance clean. Not a cliffhanger. Can read it in a day/afternoon.

Although the story is but 144 pages, this is not a cliffhanger!! I truly enjoyed this story of promises and family. I found the characters well defined and despite the familiar storyline, the author's view made it interesting, not boring. I did find Cassie's unrequited crush on Jack to be the odd duck. When she adopted Sarah she only addresses Amanda and her promise to her mother, and yet Sarah has Jack's eyes. I feel that in not sharing her feelings for Jack, the author missed an important tie in for the story. In fact, she allowed Cassie to express her love to Jack as though it was a new situation instead of one she has held since their shared youth. The details that could have expanded the storyline was inhibited by the limited pages, or the rush of the author to finish her tale.... Despite all of that I would recommend this story.

When Jack returns home he discovers that Cassie owns a bakery and has adopted a little girl. They were friends since grade school and he had gone put with her sister. Soon he fines himself wanted to take Cassie out. She doesn't want to get close to him but she has always had a crush on him. Well written romantic story of 2nd chance at love. Couldn't put the book down. joy943

Frankly, I was unhappy with most of this story. I was surprised towards the end when the crude sister said sloppy seconds, because that whole issue made me uncomfortable during the whole book. That's something I could have never done.

I really liked this story. Callie has a bakery in her small town and life is good for her and her adopted daughter. Being a single mom has its challenges but she has a support network to help with her daughter so she is happy with her life. That is until Jack comes back to town. His father needs help with the ranch so he stopped traveling the world to run the ranch. Callie isn't happy about his return and is jumpy whenever she sees Jack. Jack can't believe the changes in Callie, who he used to think of as a little sister. This woman is no little sister. But she has secrets that he wants to find out about. I liked the way the secret was hinted at during the story but not told. While Callie planned on telling Jack the secret, I was impatient for her to get it out. Christine Kingsley is a very illustrative writer making it easy to picture the events taking place. This book is a great read and definitely captures the reader in the story line.
