An excellent historical novel; few things seem to change over the centuries especially religious fanaticism.

I started with a middle book and have gotten all of them up to date. This is a favorite historical era. It is always a good read to have another insight into happenings when fiction is enhanced by fact.

Crime with a religeous flavor. The historical accurate tale with wonderful characters. Excellent writing style that broadens the mind. Worth a second read.

Mathew Shardlake's character has developed since the first book.It remains my favorite era for multiple reasons and the author is superb in his historical treatment of the time period.Stark, poignant and a thriller.

This is a new author for me and I must say that I have bought two more of his books because the writing was good. There were enough complications to the plot that you kept on your toes, enough surprises to keep you reading, some fascinating and quirky characters. I have enjoyed some of Philippa Gregory's books and loved Margaret George's book "Henry VIII" which I think helps in reading books of this time. Good mystery.
