English Earl Gideon is busy trying to manage his estate when his mother has a disturbing dream, one where his cousin, Ian, dies. His mother reveals she has visions and insists on returning to her home in Scotland. While Gideon doesn’t believe in visions, he agrees to travel to Scotland to visit his maternal relatives. What he doesn’t anticipate is to lose his heart to a Scottish lass. Alisabeth (Lissie) had only been married to Ian for a year before he dies at a political rally saving the lives of a woman and child. Lissie feels caught between two worlds: her childhood home with her parents and her home with Ian’s family. When Gideon and his mother arrive, Lissie is immediately attracted to the Earl. The more she’s around him, the stronger her feelings grow. Is she betraying Ian’s love by wanting to be with Gideon? Can she convince Gideon Scotland is his home with her by his side? Another beautiful historical romance gem from Aubrey Wynne. Everything from the plot to the intricate historical details to colourful, fleshed out characters makes this a must read. I must admit, I didn’t know much about this particular unrest in England/Scotland history. But after reading this book, I’m filled with curiosity. The sweeping romance I’ve come to expect from any Aubrey Wynne book is here in spades. What makes it so special for me is how seductive it is while being clean (no graphic detail). Wynne is masterful when it comes to weaving romantic tension, especially against a historical backdrop. If you’re looking for a romance to curl up to, pick this up today. Yes, it is part of a multi-author series, but it reads as a standalone. Highly recommend! Favorite Character/Quote: Alisabeth. She’s a Scot through and through yet she doesn’t quite know where she belongs. She’s drawn to Gideon yet feels guilty. A well-drawn character and one I could relate to. My Rating: 5 stars

After losing her husband Alisabeth is introduced to Gideon [Earl of Stanfeld] who turns out to be her late husbands cousin. There is an immediate spark between the two but, with the recent death of Ian will they be able to get over/through all the odds and be together. Alisabeth so carefree and Gideon is a bit of a stuffy Lord. This book is loaded with drama, humor, action, suspense and some of magic. Reading about the Scottish legends, folklore and traditions from the Highlanders history was amazing!! What happens with/to Gideon and Alisabeth?? Do they over come the odds?? To find out you really need to read this book. I truly loved this book!!

ONE SERIOUSLY SWEET READ!!! Man, talk about some sweet heat. Aubrey never ceases to amaze me with her style, perception and insight. This little jewel blew me away with all the twists and turns along with a few glitches here and there make for one enjoyable experience. The characters and their personalities are so realistic and believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The explosive chemistry between the two main characters as they got to know each other as the story unfolds. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it's easy to see each scenario as it plays out perfectly. Aubrey wields her words as skillfully and precise as a surgeon with his scalpel. I love the depth and progress of the plot as well as the secondary characters. Aubrey did a magnificent job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Aubrey, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

Rhapsody And Rebellion: (Once Upon a Widow) is an awesome historical romance by Aubrey Wynne. This is a fairly quick, clean read, perfect for those with limited reading time. This book is appropriate for any age. Ms. Wynne has given readers a well-written book populated with amazing, fun characters. Gideon is an English earl but has roots in Scotland. Lissie is the widow of Gideon's Scottish cousin. Their story is loaded with drama, humor, action, suspense and a bit of magic. I loved every page of this story and look forward to reading more from Aubrey Wynne in the future. Rhapsody and Rebellion is book 7 of the Enduring Legacy Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Rhapsody and Rebellion: Once Upon A Widow by Aubrey Wynne is the seventh book in her Enduring Legacy and this series just keeps getting better and better. Classified as a historical romance, this book checked every box for someone looking for a little romance, suspense, mystery and history all rolled into one. Following the story of Alisabeth and Gideon, when Alisabeth marries her best friend. The affection and loyalty that they have for each other, but the passion that burns between them surpasses all other emotions. When tragedy strikes Alisabeth making her a widow. She is lost trying to figure out what is the next step in her life, until she meets Gideon. While she is a widow, Alisabeth is still a strong full of life woman, and a beauty to all of those around her. Gideon is a man who enjoys being single, and while he is not looking to get tied down there is something about Alisabeth that he can’t deny draws him to her. Gideon doesn’t care for the matchmaking wiles of his mother and the society ladies, but when his mother wants him to take her to their Highland home, he can’t deny her. It is there that Gideon meets Alisabeth. The attraction is instantaneous, and while neither of them are looking for a future together, Alisabeth’s appearance in Gideon’s life makes him start to think about the way his life is going. While Alisabeth and Gideon grow closer, Gideon is determined to learn about his Scottish heritage and while this opens a whole new world for him, it could lead to danger for Alisabeth. When word of the political unrest in Scotland reach England, will Gideon and Alisabeth’s budding love be put to the test? Or will they grow and rise together to achieve a happily ever after? Wynne is a new to me author, but I am so happy that I picked this book up. While this book is the seventh book in the series, I didn’t feel like I missed out having found the series so late in the game. I have gotten ahold of all the previous books so itll be a treat to read them all in order. If you are looking for a great story, building a fantastic story and series, then this is one that you need to pick up today! I can’t wait to see where this series goes in the future.

Rhapsody and Rebellion was a great 5 star read and book #7 in the Enduring Legacy series. “Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night” - Edgar Allen Poe Gideon’s mom has a dream/vision of a family member passing away in a terrible accident. She is adamant that they go home to Scotland. To make his mother happy he agrees to take her. After marrying her best friend at 17, Alisabeth has become a widow after less than a year of marriage due to political uproars. When her husbands cousin arrives things take an interesting twist. When Gideon and Alisabeth meet you can feel the connection between them. As they get to know each other better, things start to build even more between them. Gideon discovers that he has inherited something special from his ancestors. Will these two get a HEA? We get humor, action, suspense and so much more. Aubrey Wynne does a great job with her writing and pulls you right in.I really liked Alisabeth, she was a strong character. Gideon quickly grew on me, he was just a lonely guy looking for love and these two together were great. All of the secondary characters were great. I look forward to reading more from this series and author.

Rhapsody and Rebellion (Enduring Legacy #7) by Aubrey Wynne was a intriguing, interesting historical romance, that had me hooked. This was my first read from this author and this series. No worries this reads as a standalone, so don't let that big number seven frighten you. In saying that, I am going to be checking out the other book in this series, because if they are anything like this one then.. girl, I can't even right now. Being set in the 1820's, it was richly detailed and lush, I found myself drawn into this world of the past. Touching on an age that I'm not familiar with, I felt like I was brought there, seeing it, living it like it was that time. I never felt confused or lost, you can tell research went into this read, to make it as authentic as possible. The overall story is quite the tale, and I found myself not only rooting for the MC's but I became invested. Want them to have their HEA was a must! So yeah, the feels got involved in this one, and at one point I thought it was all going to go up in smoke. Man you can't to do that to my heart. Beside the splendid love story, there is war brewing, and that adds another struggled and strong element that rounds out this wonderful read. This book is a super high recommendation from me. So please take my stamp of approval that you will be drawn into the distance past, and fall hard for this couple that are trying to fight the odds. Happy Reading -E.A. Walsh.

Rhapsody and Rebellion by Aubrey Wynne is her contribution to a historical romance series Enduring Legacy where multiple writers contribute with their historical stories. It is my first encounter with this writer and I am sure that when I crave some historical romance, I will check out her other writings … AND the Enduring Legacy series itself as even though all the stories are supposedly standalones, they apparently have a common undertone/theme … It has been a while since I picked up a historical romance and the story of Earl Gideon and Alisabeth (Lissie) was a beautiful gem to enjoy after such a long time! It was story wrought of differences and contradictions – Scots vs English, stiff upper lip and running wild, nobility and social activism … add to this unexpected attraction, legends and characters that you cannot help but fall in love with. Loved the historical details, the tapestry the writer weaves … pure joy! I have always loved Scotland and the way she tells the story … I could close my eyes and picture it in my mind … If you love history and romance and especially the conflict between the Scots and the English … this book is for you! Enjoy it!
