Rhythms of Renewal was written to reveal a pathway through anxiety and the distractions of a too- busy schedule. With humor, compassion, and immense practicality, Rebekah Lyons shares what she has learned of 4 rhythms which together help to create a healthy lifestyle: rest, restore, connect, create. What resonated with me was the unhurried pace Lyons describes at the beginning of her day. She encourages us to begin slowly, with prayer, journaling, and the Word of God. “When we begin our days by spending time with God...There’s no script, no race, no rules. There’s only peace, courage, and strength for the day ahead.” (p. 67) Anyone interested in real life change, who sincerely wants a plan to carve out a healthier lifestyle, will find wisdom and focus in Rhythms of Renewal. Whether it’s time to inhale rest or exhale creativity, inspiration exists between the covers of this book. I’ve received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

In Rhythms of Renewal, Rebekah Lyons combines her personal experiences with practical habits that result in a work that is both relatable and inspiring. The book openly explains both her struggles and triumphs, and the ways in which the Lord has been teaching her through these things and leading her into the rhythms explained in the book. In my personal life, I recently entered a season of intentional rest after suffering from some prolonged health issues that were interfering with my job and everyday life. Reading this book has left me feeling so hopeful and motivated for this season because I feel like applying these rhythms will allow me to rest well, and not only experience the physical healing I’ve been praying for, but also spiritual healing in my heart, mind, and soul. I highly recommend reading this book and hope it leads you to rest that is meaningful and refreshing.

"Rebekah’s book, “Rhythms of Renewal” came at just the right time for me – a time where I needed to be reminded of rhythms, intentional practices that calm my spirit, lead me to Jesus and help me to be intentional about life and joy! In her book, she writes about four main rhythms, “Rest”, “Restore”, “Connect” and “Create”. In each of those rhythms, she talks through personal stories and presents practical ways to incorporate them into your life. Incorporating these things into my life is already making a difference! For example, there’s a chapter titled “Making a Memory – Imaginative Play” and in it Rebekah says, “Our hearts need space to feel, create, embrace, and love—none of which can be placed on a to-do list. These priorities only come when we make time for exploration, fun, and unexpected life to happen.” Yes, yes, yes! This chapter and another one reminded me of the importance of letting go of control, and my to-do list, and being purposeful about engaging again with what God has placed around me. I’m already feeling the joy that comes from letting go – playing and laughing again! Rebekah’s book provides practical ways and intentional questions, and I’m sure that because of that it will be a book that you and I come back to many times. This is a book that will make you want to get in a comfy place, listen to a friend (Rebekah) tell you about her experiences and then explore with the Lord how / whether to incorporate that rhythm into your life as well. “With a little intention and a lot of perseverance, stress and anxiety can be transformed into peace and purpose” (Rebekah Lyons, Rhythms of Renewal)."

What a refreshing book! No pressure to do more and be more, but to truly rest in the Lord and be renewed in simple, practical ways. In a world that screams, “you’re never enough,” this book is exactly what the soul needs to remember how we function best. It’s great practical advice, told in the context of Rebekah’s own journey. She has such a gift of marrying the practical with her own story that makes it relatable and enjoyable to read.

Rhythms of Renewal focuses on 4 rhythms: rest, restore, connect, and create. I was really struck by how everything in our lives fits into one of these four. Sometimes, we may find that instead of leaning into these rhythms, were leaning into mayhem and stress. Just as we are all unique beings, we each have different strengths when it comes to these rhythms. This book is so necessary in today's culture of "louder" and "more." If you're tired of the chaos, and ready for a change, this book is for you.

This book offers hope to a world living in chaos and anxiety. Rebekah encourages us that "It's never too late to re-establish what you want your life to be about." Which the book then guides you how to walk out each of the four rhythms in practical ways. Each rhythm is brought to life through several ways to put this into practice today. Rebekah offers great personal insight as well as meaning prompts to help me think through this in my own life. I loved being able to read about ways my family can put rest, restoration, connection, and creativity into place immediately in our life. This book has met a need my soul has to be deeper connected to God and who he created me to be. I will spend the next season putting into practice how to live out these rhythms to bring joy, serenity, abundance, and balance to my life.

Rebekah Lyons has given us a gift in her newest book, Rhythms of Renewal: Trading Stress and Anxiety for a Life of Peace and Purpose”. With her beautiful writing style of vulnerability and humility, Rebekah shares her struggle with us of facing the setback of another panic attack after years of experiencing God’s deliverance in that area of her life. Overwhelmed with discouragement, she cries out to God and others, for help to reclaim the peace and rest that she once had. This book is a detailed account of how God answered those prayers. Through hard work, study, and a heart open to God’s Word, Rebekah shares 4 principles that can lead us to a life of peace and purpose. I LOVED this book! Rebekah is the real deal. She doesn’t only teach God’s ways, she practices (and keeps on practicing!) what she teaches. That’s why this book is so powerful. Her chapters on pursuing quiet, morning routines, and sabbath have been life changing to me already. Buy this book, read this book, apply these principles to your life, and share it with all of your friends! Your life will be richer because of it.

I love this book! As proved throughout her books, Rebekah has earned authority in overcoming anxiety and living a full life. She writes openly and genuinely about her own experiences, starting with the very first story of fear and panic slipping back in unexpectedly. Her style of storytelling and practical steps will lead the reader on a journey toward wholeness. (Make sure you don't skip over the Reflection Questions at the end of each chapter!) As Rebekah says, "...with a little intention and a lot of perseverance, stress and anxiety can be transformed into peace and purpose." Through this book, I pray that you, like me, learn how important these rhythms are to everyone's emotional, relational, physical and spiritual health. "These rhythms not only protect me from anxiety and the stress of the world. They are the very thing that helped me come alive, engaged with vision that allowed me to see the path to Joy." "You were made for this! Let's cultivate the vibrant life we were meant to live."

"Rhythms of Renewal is the book you need to help you get out of that cycle of anxiety and despair that’s so pervasive in our society today. Through practical tips, relatable stories, and based on the Word of God, Rebekah gets real about the things we need to do to maintain a life of peace. And it’s not about ‘doing’ per se, but there are things we need to be aware of and take action on, so we can rest and restore our bodies, and to be able to connect with those around us and create an atmosphere of peace. The chapters are short, but you can really take your time to answer the discussion questions and dig deep. Some sections may be more provoking than others, but personally, each one is hitting on what I’m going through right now! I love the quote on page 31, “it’s never too late to re-establish what you want your life to be about.“ I want my life to have peace and purpose!! So no matter if you are a teen or an older adult, this book is a timely and God-given beacon of light! "

This book is fantastic! I am such a fan of Rebekah Lyons. I felt like I was receiving personal counseling sessions with Rebekah as I examined parts of my life that need renewal. The chapter on hugs got me - and I am not even a huggie kind of person. Reading Rhythms of Renewal has lead me to take more steps towards healing and creating space. Rebekah interwove her experiences with research and scripture. The read was fast and life changing for me. I probably should write book reviews more but had to for this one because of the impact I believe it can have on so many people!

Can I give a book more than five stars? This book is a must read for anyone struggling with anxiety. Rebekah offers up practical tools that are accessible for anyone through the categories of rest, recovery, connect and create. She dives deep into anxiety in her own life and offers true hope to anyone suffering from it. This is more than just a book on anxiety. It spoke to the depths of my soul. Rebekah has gone through it and she understands. I have begun implementing her ideas and am seeing progress in my personal life. This isn't a magic pill that will make everything perfect, but it is an incredible tool (the best I've come across) that will help people with all levels of anxiety work toward a healthier and more peaceful life. Huge thank you to Rebekah for sharing so much incredible insight and helping me and so many others around the world who feel stuck in the grips of anxiety!

I honestly knew of Rebekah and had read her previous book so I picked up this book for that reason. But boy oh boy, the reason I continued to read it is because I need it. Even though I am a young single female, I still have 100% of my days scheduled out because of all the responsibilities I have. I struggled with anxiety years ago and felt guilty when I would feel it's presence again. But Rebekah speaks to the relapse that happens and reminds us God knew that as long as we live here on earth we would be tempted to fear which is why scripture reminds us over and over again not to listen to that fear. The practical steps are written out so clearly that it did not take much extra time to enforce them into my daily life and I am so grateful for these road rails now in place to not be surprised again. If you know what scripture says and what others say how not to fear but struggle with living it out consistently, stop looking and add this to your cart. While the bible should be our first go-to instruction manual, this is a quality supplement to add.

I just finished the book and I can’t say enough good things about it! Rebekah shares her experience with anxiety and panic attacks and how four critical life rhythms helped her find hope and healing. The stories are so relatable, and every chapter contains practical and realistic ideas you can put into practice right away. Each chapter also shares the science behind why each of the practices are some important and helpful. As I read Rhythms of Renewal I found myself laughing, crying, and nodding in agreement SO many times! Rebekah is a beautiful storyteller and her words were a truthful salve to my soul at a time when it was very tender. It has encouraged me to take the time to really rest, restore, connect, and create. If you are looking for a book to guide you as you deal with anxiety or the day to day stress of life, look no further. This will appeal to men and women, Christians and those seeking something more than what this world has to offer, high schoolers and beyond. I loved this book so much I have already purchased copies as gifts for my mom, my sister, and several of my friends!

This book has meant so much to me! The things I felt were off balance in my life, yet I couldn't put my finger on, were all addressed to help me find peace. The natural rhythms of rest, restore, connect and create make so much sense as Rebekah shares how to put them into practice. Many simple ideas throughout the book, like preparing for sleep by turning the lights low, writing your thoughts down and resting from technology before bed are provided to help you understand each rhythm. My biggest challenge is the morning and making space for God. Therefore, it really convicted me when I read, ""Do you drag yourself out of bed late, slog through a rushed and harried process...or...settle into God's rhythm, and let his comfort dictate the pace?"" Then, Rebekah says, ""As you meet him (God), expect him to bring comfort to your anxiety."" , but all of that requires a good nights sleep. She is so right! I just needed to hear this and know that I wasn't alone! There is so much more, as she covers how to restore our bodies physically, spiritually and mentally. She encourages you to have fun again, connect with people in person, be vulnerable and achieve true community. And finally, to create, which I'm beginning to understand is just as important as the other rhythms. God has made us with purpose and passion and Rebekah will help you uncover those unique areas in the last section of the book. Reading ""Rhythms of Renewal"" has been like sitting with a friend who just gets me!! This book will help you see the areas where you struggle and give you practical advice to make the real you come alive again!!

In Rhythms of Renewal Rebekah Lyons shows how we can implement rhythms in our lives to restore us and alleviate the stress and anxiety we are facing in this fast-paced world we live in. Rebekah's book is so timely for me. I had been feeling out of balance and not knowing what my purpose is in this season of my life. Now I am able to put words my feelings. I have been out of balance with the rhythms of my life. I am so excited to put into practice all four rhythms Rebekah shares with us and get back in balance with God's peace and purpose for me. Rebekah writes... "When we carve out space for the quiet, to retreat to a silent place to pray, journal, or read, we rest from the noisy distractions of our lives." This is something that has been missing in my life and I have already put this rhythm into practice. This is such an amazing book filled with biblical and practical advice to help you cultivate rhythms that will free you from stress and anxiety. Thank you, Rebekah, for this gem of a book!

Wow! Rebekah hit the jackpot! Rest, Restore, Connect and Create! Rebekah vulnerably walks us through her own struggles with anxiety with practical ways to overcome. This book could have not come at a better time for me. Reading the introduction resonated to my core since I had a similar experience 3 days prior to opening this book. The Rhythm of Rest spoke to me loud and clear. Rebekah says, "We are restless when we rest less." Being restless is a good cue for me to take some time to rest and sit with Jesus or everything else suffers and the train wreak could be around the corner. This book serves as a great reminder that when we choose to rest in God restoration comes and allows us to fulfill the call God has on our lives!

I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. In this book, Rebekah Lyons takes us through the four rhythms of renewal. These rhythms are rest, restore, connect, and create. Throughout each of these rhythms, Rebekah gives us valuable ideas that can help create a life free of stress and anxiety and full of peace and purpose. “Rescue is ready and waiting for us, but so often, we are unable to see a way of escape. Instead of looking up, we keep our heads down, circling the stall, wondering why our circumstances don’t change. We get lost in our loops, repeat the same habits over and over, expecting different results.” Excerpt taken from Rhythms of Renewal. If you are anything like me, this statement rings true for you. In Rhythms of Renewal, Rebekah brings to the table a lot of valid points and excellent ideas that can help you to work towards peace and purpose. Although this is a good book, I personally would expect to see more scripture quoted rather than people quoted. There is scripture to back up what Rebekah brings to the table, it is just not quoted in this book.

As a stressed, overwhelmed and exhausted mom of 4, this book is exactly what my soul needed! Rebekah Lyons shares how she has taken her own struggles with anxiety, depression, worry and exhaustion and has managed to find rhythms in her day to day life to add in time for deep soul care, rest and a deeper spiritual relationship. She offers the reader reflection questions at the end of each chapter with space to write your answers. This book has given me hope and guidance on how to create my own daily rhythms to allow me more breathing room, peace, rest and time with the Lord. I’m so thankful for this timely book and will be referencing it many times over as I continue to pursue these rhythms in my own life. I highly recommend this book! It is exactly what my heart, soul, mind and body needs!

Rebecca’s book speaks to women today in a way that provides solutions, tangible steps we can take to reclaim the life we hoped for but feel like we’ve lost. Because it’s broken down into steps, it doesn’t just create a desire for change but it paves a pathway for change. Her words are authentic and real. It’s the perfect guide for letting go of the things hindering you from seeing life as the gift it is and create space for the things that really bring you joy. As a mom with so many responsibilities, it's been easy to lose sight of what’s important. Days, weeks, and years pass and it often feels like overwhelm has taken up permanent residence . I had never looked at life from the perspective or rhythms, but it’s a powerful narrative shift. I’m hopeful of applying the rhythms and developing sustainable change that impacts me and my family.

Through her newest book, Rhythms of Renewal, Rebekah Lyons outlines four key rhythms and provides practical tools to maintain them, even when life seems to be swallowing us whole. She openly shares her own stories and steps she has taken to overcome issues such as paralyzing anxiety. With a backbone of Christian faith combined with her personal experiences, Lyons has created an action plan that can be applied to each and every person’s life.

In Rhythms of Renewal, Rebekah Lyons walks us the rhythms of Rest, Restore, Connect, and Create in an engaging and practical style. She is open and honest about her own struggles of finding rhythms. Every chapter has something challenging and thought-provoking on self-care, boundaries and rhythms. It is not a book to be read through quickly but digested piece by piece. I will be referring back to it time and again. If it is challenging finding rhythms in the chaos of life, this book can help. Dive in. You won't regret it.

For the sake of total disclosure, I am a member of the official launch team for this latest book from author and podcaster Rebekah Lyons. However, I must say if I was simply gifted this book, I would give it a glowing review. Lyons is the author of bestseller FREE TO BE ME, and has another potential bestseller with her latest, Rhythms of Renewal. Lyons is a busy wife and mother of four, so she knows about how it is so easy to get frazzled and preoccupied in our busy world and shares her hard-won knowledge with her readers. And don't get put off by the pretty and feminine-looking cover of the book --- the book can be just as helpful to men as well as women (Lyons does not favor directing her comments purely to women). Lyons focuses on the importance of healthy rhythms in life for people and families to thrive relationally, physically and spiritually. She divides the book into four aspects of this kind of healthy rhythm: Rest; Restoration; Connection, and Creation (Creativity). Each chapter is short and easily digested (about 10 pages on average). Within each of the 4 sections, the author describes such practices as finding quiet in the every day; detoxing from technology; walking in nature; eating brain food; the power of physical touch; initiating friendships; recovering or learning a new passion (hobby or interest); and learning to play as an adult. Throughout, Lyons presents herself not as an expert or one who has "arrived" at total peace and well-being; but as a fellow struggler and pilgrim who is simply willing to leave behind old unhealthful habits for new ones that bring about better mental, spiritual and physical health. Highly recommended!
