I've read most books available on songwriting, and I found this to be one of the most useful. Some of it covers the basics which wasn't much use to me, but there are parts where the mechanics of songwriting are really taken apart and looked at with much more depth than I have ever gone into before. I found the lyric writing stuff particularly useful, but the book covers pretty much everything imaginable, and goes into considerable depth in most areas. The fact that the book includes a song being developed is really interesting and I found that I have finished the book knowing a lot more about how to craft a song than when I started. It's also written so that you can duck in and out which makes it a particularly valuable addition to my collection. It deserves a lot of attention I think.
