Ripped by Sarah Morgan

"Wardrobe malfunction" doesn't begin to cover it.

With a rip louder than the "I dos," Hayley's hideous bile-yellow bridesmaid dress explodes. She's always had enviable curves, but nearly naked wasn't quite the look she'd been going for at her ex's wedding.

She's rushed from the altar under the best man's designer tux jacket. Hayley's expecting a blast of icy disapproval from sexy, sophisticated Niccolò Rossi—his usual reaction to anything she does. What she gets is a kiss that nearly melts what's left of her polyester nightmare gown.

It's impossible on a million levels. Exuberant engineer Hayley and buttoned-up lawyer Nico have never seen eye to eye—but skin to skin? Oh, mio… So when Nico shows up at her flat on Christmas Day to give her a fabulous gift—himself—Hayley's delighted to do the unwrapping. But it's just a holiday fling. By New Year's Day, she'll come back to her senses…unless Nico's sensual skills tear away all her resolve.

I was in the middle of reading Sarah Morgan's holiday story, Sleigh Bells in the Snow (review below), when I received the review request for Ripped. I'm so glad that I was becoming familiar with Morgan's work and enjoying it, or I might have otherwise let this one slip away. Ripped was a holiday novella that got me in the spirit, and in the mood. Imagine how incredibly awkward it would feel to be a bridesmaid to your friend, and your ex. Awful, right? Now imagine the bride forced you to wear a hideous dress, a dress that splits the seams during the wedding. Everyone is laughing, staring... except for one man. The gorgeous and intense Best Man, Nico, who comes to the rescue. This crazy awkward scenario is what sets Ripped off to a fabulous start that left me giggling and flying through the pages. But, Ripped is not only funny, but also very romantic and sexy. The story continues with the Miller sisters' annual Christmas party, and the sparks between Hayley and Nico fan to an out of control level. Nico Rossi = Best Christmas Gift Ever. The two get to know each other better, on all levels. The steam between Nico and Hayley was intense and sexy, but the story never lost its thoughtfulness, humor, and heart. Ripped is a holiday romance that sends the year out with a bang. I will be anxiously awaiting the next Miller Sisters novella. Favorite Quotes: The dress was a horribly tight tube, floor length, which basically meant my legs were locked together. I couldn't even run away. I was like a mermaid, but without an ocean to drown in. Escape would be a slow, shuffling, breast-bouncing affair. ~eARC, 13% There was one part of him he couldn't control and that part was thrusting hard against a pair of black boxer briefs. I felt sympathy for those briefs. Containing an erection of that size just wasn't in the job description. ~eARC, 67%

~Reviewed by FRANCESCA & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Well, this was totally unexpected.  RIPPED was entertaining and funny from the very opening where our heroine, Hayley, is a bridesmaid at her ex-boyfriend’s wedding only to have her dress rip during the ceremony and flash the whole church.  Alas, sexy, dark and brooding hero comes to the rescue.  No, not the douche ex-boyfriend now getting married.  The sexy Italian best friend whom she thought always hated her. Niccolò is, yes as mentioned above, sexy as hell.  And I always enjoy short stories where there is history between the characters because it makes the story more believable for me.  Apparently Niccolò was always interested in Hayley.  Knew she deserved better than his douche friend.  After the break up, he was just waiting for the right time to sink his claws into her.  That, and make sure she was over him.  The events at the wedding just put everything into fast forward. I loved the way the author dropped subtle hints about his feelings for her through others eyes.  Things she hadn’t seen at the time but that showed a deeper level of care.  How their relationship didn’t come out of nowhere for him and in reality not for her either since she usually enjoyed his company more than her actual boyfriend at the time. Typical of one of these Cosmo Red-Hot Reads, you can expect to have a few laughs.  Some strong characters, including a feisty female. And a whole lot of sexy!  I have probably discovered another author I will go back and read more of. *ARC provided by publisher

Really really enjoyed this book . The only drawback is it was way to short!!!!!! It was entertaining, funny, and hot, all at the same time. If your looking for a good (short) book, this is the one. Less than 100 pages but very well written pages!!! Next time make it longer please!!!!!!

This was a perfect novella. I loved getting to know Hayley, because she’s not your usual heroine. The book started with lot of drama for Hayley and we got tho see her worst day ever, but at the same time Nico her knight in shining Tom Ford dashed in her way and made it all better. It’s such a sweet romance and the best part for me was the setting, because Christmas is always time for a restart. Hayley needed a new romance and Nico was the perfect guy, he really did open up during their hot nights together. Now I think we need to see Hayley sister falling in love, or maybe a better explanation about her mysterious past.

There is comedy, romance and sex. I really liked this story, though it is less than 90 pages. It could have been a liitle more developed and I would have given it the 5 stars.

This novella from USA Today bestselling author and RITA© Award winner, Sarah Morgan, was the most fun, light-hearted read I’ve had in a while. Set in London at Christmastime, the main character, Hayley Miller, is having a holiday season to remember. The novella opens with one of the funniest scenes I’ve ever read. Hayley is a bridesmaid in her slimy ex-boyfriend’s wedding. She’s wearing one of those god-awful bridesmaids dresses you hear so much about. In a smart, witty, first-person voice, Hayley describes it as - …you didn’t need a degree in engineering to know there was no room in this dress for two people. Let’s just say there’s a small (or maybe not so small) wardrobe malfunction. In Hayley’s own words: Scarlet-faced, I tried to grab the misbehaving fabric and cover myself with that, but honestly it was like trying to cover Big Ben with a handkerchief. Never fear, though, luckily for Hayley, there’s a hot Italian in a Tom Ford suit to come to her rescue. Nico Rossi is the last person she wants rescuing her, though. He’s never been anything but cold and aloof to her, and it drives her crazy. Of course, hijinks ensue. Normally, I am not a big fan of contemporary romances. I’m more of a historic romance fan. However, Sarah Wendell’s grade A review of Ripped had me hurrying to buy this novella for my Kindle just before Christmas. After six months of non-stop studying for the CPA exam, I desperately needed something entertaining and fun to read. Sarah Morgan delivered just that. I tore through Hayley and Nico’s story in just a few hours. I loved Hayley’s strong, smart, and quick witted personality. She has a great bond with her sister/roommate, Rosie, that I loved reading. I can’t wait to read her story when it is published this summer. This novella had some deliciously steamy scenes from the beginning. There’s no denying the chemistry between Hayley and Nico. Morgan did a fantastic job building that chemistry in such a short time. Just as with every novella I’ve ever read, I wished it were a full-length novel. I didn’t want to stop reading! I wanted more time to read about Nico, who was a senstive and intriguing hero, but not fully developed (it’s a novella, though, what can I expect?!). I wish I knew more of his backstory (maybe there will be a novel about his younger sister, Kiara? Hope!). Before Ripped, I’d never read anything by Sarah Morgan before. I will definitely be adding her to my list of authors to read. Her writing is sharp, funny and fast-paced. There was such a strong narrative voice in this short work that I felt I really knew Hayley well. This novella was published as a Harlequin Cosmo Hot Read. Normally, anything related to Cosmopolitan makes me all eye-rolly, but the inanity of the magazine publication didn’t seem to influence the writing. Even though it’s not the Christmas season any longer, I’d recommend this novella for reading anytime of the year. The holiday setting might be integral to the plot development, but it’s not integral to your enjoyment as a reader. If you need a fun, quick romance read this one will definitely fit the bill.

When I started reading this book I was sitting on the sofa eating a cookie, well let me tell you - I was laughing so hard I almost choked on that cookie! Hayley not only did the funniest stuff, the stuff going on in her head were hilarious. Hayley was like most of Sarah's heroines, smart, tough, and totally wonderful. Niccolo was just fine too, I fell in love with his character at one. The fact that he had been in love with her long before she realized it was just so great. I wish this book had been longer because I didn't want it to end. I give this book five stars and recommend it highly.
