"Gleason is really on a roll!" -- Publishers Weekly

The saga of Victoria Gardella continues as the glorious nineteenth-century city of Rome gives rise to a new threat from the immortal undead....

Lady Victoria Gardella Grantworth de Lacy has been a vampire slayer for just over a year, balancing her life as a peer of Society with the dangerous role that takes her out on moonlit streets, stake in hand.

She has learned brutal and heartbreaking lessons about the sacrifices that must be made in order to save humanity from the evil that secretly preys upon it, but she has not wavered in her vow to fight on.

Now, in Italy, a powerful vampire is amassing the power to control the souls of the dead. As Victoria races across Europe to stop what could be the most deadly army the Gardellas have ever faced, her unlikely companion is Sebastian Vioget--a man as tempting as he is untrustworthy.

But when Victoria discovers she has been betrayed by one of her most trusted allies, the truth will challenge all her powers as a Venator...and as a woman.

Praise for The Gardella Vampire Hunters:

"...turns vampire stories-and romances-on their ear." --The Detroit News

"With its wonderfully witty writing, action-infused plot and sharply defined characters, Rises the Night is deliciously dark and delightfully entertaining." -- The Chicago Tribune

"A tense plot line and refreshingly diverse supporting characters complete the package, giving series fans plenty to sink their teeth into--and plenty more to look forward to." - Publishers Weekly

"...Heart-stopping scenes and sexual tension. With numerous twists, [Gleason] leaves you hanging, eagerly awaiting the next installment." - Romantic Times

Read all of Colleen's 5 books in this series, they are incredible. I got so involved with the characters and the storylines that at times I just couldn't stop reading, what a wild ride! Max, oh my, he affected me as no other character has in the many books I've read. I loved Victoria and Sebastian as well as the others throughout the series, but Max was by far my favorite. Make sure to read the entire series in order, and there is a follow-up novella involving our heroes, with more to come.

I won't say too much about the plot because I don't want to give anything away, but I will say this one got me right in the gut and the heart! The choices, the sacrifices--oh my! Sebastian is still smouldering, Max is enigmatic, and Victoria is headstrong as ever. I do wish she would stop rushing into situations by herself, thinking she can take care of it all. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and seeing Victoria really come into her own as a Venator, with or without the help of the men in her life.

This book has everything. Vampires, vampires, vampires. What more could you want? A great plot, action, more action and vampires.

The Gardella chronicles continues at a brisk pace with this second book. While the setting moves to Italy the characters I enjoyed from the first are all present with some exiting additions. Victoria continues to develop and faces some pretty shocking revelations as the book moves to its conclusion. Really enjoyable read.

I am a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire slayer, so when I read that this series was brought to life because of her I had to get it. I love the double life aspect. She is a strong woman but not to tough or hard core. I truly enjoyed this book and have recently finished the second. I plan on reading the whole series.

This book was hard to put down. I found myself reading long into the night to find out what happens next! You will not be disappointed. I cant wait to read the next book in the series.

The first book was great. In this book still full of action, the author makes me fall in love with Sebastian but...someone else is also in the back of my head, makes my wonder!!! Victoria is on her way to learn to become a leader she is meant to be...maybe! Excellent series people, a should read kind of book! highly recommend it.

In this second book in the series, Victoria travels to Italy to fight a powerful vampire and his minions, vampire and human. She must stop this group before they activate the power of an ancient relic. In a world where she does not know friend from foe, she must use all her cunning and strength to prevail.I enjoyed this book more than the first in the series. Although there is plenty of romance, ther seemed to be more action and vampire lore, which I prefer. Victoria is really challenged and comes through as a strong and noble character. All the same she is human and not above being drawn to a man who may turn out to be her enemy. I am glad I picked up this series again. I will not wait so long to read the next one.

3.5 stars - Sebastian was fun but the book was plodding at times--I had no problem putting it down, which I don't want to do with a 4 or 5 star book. I would have given it 3 stars but the ending was good and earned it another half star. The series is getting better--hopefully the 3rd book will be a 4 star for me. :)

I tried reading this book without reading the first of the series, and I absolutely could not get into despite several attempts. I couldn't connect with Victoria, and the plot didn't interest me. So learn from my mistake, and don't try to approach this as a standalone.

I found it disappointing, especially after how much I enjoyed the last one. The plot and pacing were kind of scattered, I wanted Max to have more screentime, and I STILL think Sebastian is really slimy so it was disappointing that he was around all the time. A lot of potentially emotional events were talked out so much that it spoiled the moment. I'll probably get the next one from the library rather than buying it.

This is a whirlwind of a read. We hit the ground running from the first page and keep going until the final pages. Victoria travels to Italy and must stop a powerful Vampire from gaining control of the souls of the dead. I have to say I enjoyed this even more than the first book. The romance part is done very well, there are a few sexy scenes but mostly the story focuses on the vampire part of the plot. I stayed up way past my bedtime two nights in a row reading this, each chapter ends in such suspense that I kept needing to read "just one more chapter". My favourite character in this series is Sebastian, he is so swoon-worthy (LOL). The shocking ending was such a surprise and I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series!
