I thoroughly enjoyed this book and intend to read the rest of the series. The author did a good job of relating a family history (His grandfather was the River Pilot) in a way that gives insight not only into the lives of the family members but also into a way of life that is no longer understood by many. This book is not only entertaining but could be recommended as supplementary reading for a history or literature class. It is truly refreshing to find a book that does not rely on scandal or sensationalism but just tells a good story.
Pious little tale. Not reflective of life as some of us in south Georgia recall it. I was hoping for more in this book since it covers the region I grew up in.
