Library Journal - Library JournalIn this Regency romance, orphaned heiress Nerissa Newby leaves her home village because of a misunderstanding which results in malicious gossip. She decides to spend time with a distant friend, and on the long journey meets Dominic Blythe, who is fleeing London after being falsely accused of murder. She finds herself agreeing to help him avoid capture by playing the role of his wife. Predictably, they fall in love, and after some travail their problems are satisfactorily resolved. Although in many ways this novel follows the usual romance formula, the characters are interesting, and the story so cleverly told that it is quite believable.-- Patricia Altner, U.S. Dept. of Defense Lib., Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.
