After 9/11, Kris Hidvegi, a young birder from Patagonia, Arizona, joins the U.S. Army to serve her country, and to follow in her famous father’s footsteps. Kris becomes an X-ray tech in Iraq. The story starts on the first day of the second half of her life, at the moment when she wakes up deaf, bloodied, and severely wounded by a roadside bomb.

About the Author
After my parents escaped Communism, I was born in West Germany during the Cold War. I had no citizenship of any country until I was 6 years old. Eventually, we wound up in San Pedro, the harbor of Los Angeles, California.

Miko creates a compelling story with a very unique protagonist. It starts with a bang and keeps getting better as you go. I highly recommend this book!!
