Overview

With the publication of his first young adult novel, The Chocolate War, author Robert Cormier earned a reputation for writing novels that realistically and unflinchingly explored the tragic side of human nature. Each of his subsequent novels continued to illustrate the dark consequences of what happens when good people do not oppose the evil forces they encounter. Cormier began his professional career writing radio commercials before becoming an award-winning journalist. He became a full-time novelist after the success of The Chocolate War. He followed up this success with other popular titles, such as I Am the Cheese and After the First Death. Although his novels have been challenged in school libraries across the country, teens and adults applauded Cormier for taking on tough subjects.

Although of course Patty Campbell's book is the best Cormier biography/lit crit, this book is definitely worth a look because it contains some very touching family anecdotes and photographs you will not be able to find elsewhere. Thus, I recommend.
