This is a really good biography, not only of the man but the times. The author's ability to capture the different contradictions of the man and the times that surrounded him become excellent threads throughout the work. I especially liked the notes section in the back. If nothing else, this book lets you go inside the Kennedy families to see RFK as a human being and as a leader of a particular generation. I think he would have won the presidency had he stayed alive. Anyone who has not seen the footage of his speech the night of MLK,Jr's assassination will certainly be moved by reading the section of that speech in the book. On the flipside, 'Bobby' was probably not a saint; however, most people are not. The strength of the work is in its simple division of the man and his times. As a history teacher, this book has helped me understand the sixties and the different moods that people and the country had during that time period. A very good read.

Having read a number of biographies of RFK, I can say that this is the best! Very readable, concise and backed up with fact not assumptions. The author paints a realistic portrait of a very human RFK. This will be the standard against which all other Kennedy bios are measured!!!!! Run don't walk to the bookstore to grab a copy of this one
