Rock Chick Revenge by Kristen Ashley

Ava Barlow hates men. She has reason and she's vowed not only never to get involved with another one again, but also to exact vengeance on her best friend's lying, cheating, rat-bastard husband. Since Luke Stark, Ava's childhood crush, is now a badass mother, she thinks to enlist him, but changes her mind at the last second. Too late. Luke knows she's up to something and he's already seen many a Rock Chick try to fight her own battles without the Hot Bunch stepping in. He's having none of it. She's having none of him. The clash of the Rock Chick and Hot Guy begins, but Luke's got the advantage. He has handcuffs and he's not afraid to use them.

About the Author

Kristen Ashley is the New York Times bestselling author of over sixty romance novels including the Rock Chick, Colorado Mountain, Dream Man, Chaos, Unfinished Heroes, The 'Burg, Magdalene, Fantasyland, The Three, Ghost and Reincarnation and Honey series along with several standalone novels. She's a hybrid author, publishing titles both independently and traditionally, her books have been translated in thirteen languages and she's sold nearly three million books.

Kristen's titles Motorcycle Man, The Will, and Ride Steady (which won the Reader's Choice award from Romance Reviews) all made the final rounds for Goodreads Choice Awards in the Romance category.

Kristen, born in Gary and raised in Brownsburg, Indiana, was a fourth generation graduate of Purdue University. Since, she has lived in Denver, the West Country of England, and she now resides in Phoenix. She worked as a charity executive for eighteen years prior to beginning her independent publishing career. She now writes full-time.

Although romance is her genre, the prevailing themes running through all of Kristen's novels are friendship, family and a strong sisterhood. To this end, and as a way to thank her readers for their support, Kristen has created the Rock Chick Nation, a series of programs that are designed to give back to her readers and promote a strong female community.

The mission of the Rock Chick Nation is to live your best life, be true to your true self, recognize your beauty, and last but definitely not least, take your sister's back whether they're at your side as friends and family or if they're thousands of miles away and you don't even know who they are. The programs of the RC Nation include Rock Chick Rendezvous, weekends Kristen organizes full of parties and get-togethers to bring the sisterhood together, Rock Chick Recharges, evenings Kristen arranges for women who have been nominated to receive a special night, and Rock Chick Rewards, an ongoing program that raises funds for nonprofit women's organizations Kristen's readers nominate. Kristen's Rock Chick Rewards have donated over $125,000 to charity and this number continues to rise.

This book was good, all of the Rock Chick books are good, but I have to admit the similarities between all the male characters is starting to get on my nerves. They are all pretty interchangeable except for looks. The reaction each of the males have is so identical it's like they are cut from the same mold. Don't get me wrong, the books are all very entertaining; however, I am starting to get the guys confused because they do not have personalities that make them stand out from one another. And I can't help but find it very ridiculous that these women are such good friends knowing that thier man was trying to get it on with one of them (or two of them, in Luke and Ava's case). I can't figure out how I feel about this; I know if my husband had been making out with another woman I considered a friend a few weeks before we started dating there would at least be some awkwardness. It's just kind of icky that these women share details about their sex life with each other in that kind of situation. If I ignore that aspect of the books, though, I find them a very enjoyable read. I prefer KA's other series more -Colorado and the Burg are a little more my style - but the Rock Chick series is still very enjoyable. I am looking forward to Ally's story.

I hate to give this book such a bad review, but honestly there are few redeeming qualities. There was such a lead up to Luke's story - he is definitely one of the hottest men in the series and I expected his lady love to be spunkier than most. Unfortunately Ava skips right past spunky and straight into selfish, immature, and (frequently) completely b****y. I know she has had a rocky past with some emotional punches but that does not excuse her behavior. She pulls so many stupid, catty stunts (things that a lead male would be crucified for if the situation were reversed) and then never takes responsibility or apologizes sincerely. Instead, she makes up ridiculous defenses and excuses. Honestly, after the parking lot scene, I actually lost respect for Luke because he didn't ream her ass out and leave her until she tried to work for the relationship for once. But, the epilogue is one of the sweetest I've read, a fabulous, totally yummy new male lead is introduced and the next love story has a fabulous kickoff. And ironically, Luke and Ava actually become one of my favorite couples in later books. My advice? Skim this one for the highlights and skip right on to Mace/Stella and Hector/Sadie. I'm really looking forward to Ally and Ren's story, but i hope she tones Ally's drama way the hell down from Ava's.

Luke Stark is by far my favorite of the Rock Chick guys. This story was awesome. Ava had a crap life that a lot of women can relate too. Because of this her and Luke's story has a lot of bumps. They have a long history that plays into how they both respond to one another. Again everyone is back and a few more new players come into the picture. This is another must read by Kristen Ashley.

I love the supporting characters more then the heroine in each book. I Hate the heroine spends 85% of the book denying a relationship. That gets old fast. I did not really like Luke too much. It was like he couldn't have Roxie so he tried for Jules and settled for Ava. I also felt Luke shpuld have just moved on. The playing hard to get got old fast.

I decided to reread this series and I still dont like this one as much as the others. Im glad Ava wasnt perfect with her weight problem but I hate the fact that in every book the women had to be a certain type (skinny, big boobs and ass) for the men to love them. It was stated plainly that Ava lost weight just to make Luke look at her. I know they were emotionally scarred but still it would be nice if they weren't physically perfect.

Love Luke! First review: My favorite Rock Chic book so far in the series. The hero is amazing.  I am now in the middle of my reread of the series and my head is spinning with all the Rock Chic Hero Hotness. It is a blast to read the  books all at once close together and know the end of the series as well.  I still love Luke and Ava too. I love how this books plays with all the stuff that has come before in the series and how Luke tries to learn  from the other courtships.  I love how some of the fun of interrupted sexy times and more and more kooky friends and shopping piles on.  Luke's courtship is badass and great. Ava is so funny. I have always had just one regret about this book. Well, two. I wish Luke wasn't a man whore. But more importantly, Ava is formally fat.  Or maybe she was just on the high side of very curvy. We don't really know because her self esteem is whacked.  Anyway, I have always wished that Luke had made it clear that when they had seen each other five years ago if she had called him  back (this is discussed in the first chapter of the book so I don't think its a spoiler) it is likely they would have gotten together no matter  her larger size.   Instead, some where along the line, he says he knew he had always wanted her in his life but hadn't know he would want her in his bed.  I also think at some point even though she lost the weight in part for him (in her mind) I think it would burn a little bit that he wants her like this now that the weight is gone.  I am not saying this is true of Luke. I am just saying this would be one of Ava's crazy notions. I think Ava's increased self confidence likely made her more hot or at least her increased being herself.  Anyway, loved this book but wish this had gotten explored in the way it deserves. Mace and Stella are up next. I didn't love this book. So, we shall see what happens in this second read.

I love this series so much that I’m sad it’s taken me so long to read it. Kristen Ashley has such a fantastic way in writing internal dialogue that I just can’t get enough. This is the fifth book that I’ve read of the series since June 1st. Lucas Stark is a hot alpha male that totally rocks Ava Barlow’s world when she needs his help to get dirt on her best friends husband. Little does Ava know the lengths that Luke will go to to protect her and convince her that he’s the man for her. It’s really to bad that Ava has sworn off men for ever. It’s so much fun to watch the tug of war between the two.

Loved this! There was so much going on in this and a fantastic story was created. Lots of different layers happening and things developing. I thought it had a great pace and everything unfolded nicely. Loved all the characters and loved the Rock Chick adventures. This was entertaining and fun as well as action packed and intense. Luke and Ava are so great. Loved the past connection they shared and learning details about both of them. Luke has been a favorite of mine so I pretty much inhaled every detail of him. Luke is so alpha male sexy but he’s also incredibly sweet so it was just awesome. I thought he was great before but by the time I was done with this, I was totally in love with him. I loved Ava's character and really got her. She frustrated me with her insecurities but I love the growth she experiences and this strong women she becomes. Luke and Ava are super hot together, loved the passionate build between the two! Lots of players are involved, old and new. Sometimes it seems like a bit much but since I have read all the books in order and know all the characters, somehow it all make sense and works. It's like a great big family party you wouldn't want anyone to miss. I love how Stella was introduced for the next book, Rock Chick Reckoning. I can't wait for Mace's story. There was drama. Intensity, adventure and a whole lot of sexiness. I was wrapped up, stressed out, and hanging on every word. Another fantastic Rock Chick read!

Another enjoyable Rock Chick book. Although her earlier books were my favorites still, this one was also very good, it had action, lots of humor, great friendships and interesting plot. I could have smacked Ava upside the head a few times though, lol. Now on to Mace & Stella's story --YeeHaw...
