Overview

Rocky Mountain Shelter (Six Pack Ranch, #9) by Vivian Arend

Innocence and passion are an addictive mix...

The dark-haired stranger next door triggers every protective instinct Trevor Coleman never knew he had. From the moment Becky Hall literally falls into his arms, the last man standing of the Moonshine clan doesn't even attempt to resist sweet temptation. Becky is beautiful, mysterious and heartbreakingly vulnerable…and he's a goner.

To escape the hell she was trapped in, Becky left everything behind but her courage. And for once in her life, good people step up to make a difference. A helping hand, a new job…a very attentive and libido–stroking neighbour. Now a new future awaits, one that shockingly includes senual pleasure instead of icy pain, and a sexy cowboy who's more than eager to show her the ropes.

Becky's sweet smiles and seductive innocence draw him in like nectar, and Trevor knows one taste will never be enough. But with secrets thicker than a bumper crop, changing a life will take more than a new ID and a cowboy's good intentions.

It's gonna take sacrifice to break these chains.

Warning: boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl—all hell breaks loose. We've got a hero whose hands are tied in more ways than one. A heroine who wants to experience everything she's ever missed, and a family that needs to discover if its roots go deep enough to weather any storm.

3.5 Stars Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog Another sweet installment in one of my favorite western romance series. This time is Trevor Coleman’s turn to find love, and as much as I love a bad boy, he’s the good guy that will really steal your heart and make you happy. He meets Becky after she moves in next door to him, and he immediately steps up to helping her even though there are many holes in her back story that raise flags of concern. Becky has been through a lot and is trying to desperately get away from her past. She’s found a benefactor and doesn’t think she’s at a point where she can have any attachments to other people. But Trevor and his family make it impossible not to fall for them. I don’t want to give anything away about what’s going on with Becky, but she needed the healing and love that only Trevor could give her. I think Ms. Arend did a wonderful job at pairing these two. Even though this is sweeter than I normally would like, it’s paced just right and their connection makes sense. Not rushed. With plenty of sexual tension. They won’t go down as my favorite couple in the series but I enjoyed this addition and I can’t wait for more!

Rocky Mountain Shelter is Book 8 in Six Pack Ranch series and it tells the story of Trevor Coleman and Becky Hall. Trevor is a rancher with a heart of gold who would literally give the shirt off his back if he saw the need. He meets Becky when he learns there is a new tenet on a run down house on rental property he wants to lease. Becky is resistant to any help, and very reluctant to accept any help. Trevor gradually wears her down and begins to build a sweet friendship that leads to romance. Becky has a dark secret that isn't revealed until the end of the book, but will Trevor be able to accept Becky past and all? Vivian Arend is a great western writer that has the knack for writing heroes that are sexy, fun, and full of life. Trevor is one of the nicest leading guys, and I appreciated the gradual build up that lead to romance in this book. This book can be read on it's own, but it's much better when you have read the others in the series. I was given a free copy for an honest review by netgalley.com

Rocky Mountain Shelter is another welcome addition to Vivian Arend's Six Pack Ranch series. Each book is centered around a member of the Coleman family, living in the Rocky Mountain House area of Alberta Canada. This is the eighth book in the series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. This is a very compelling read. It is the story of Becky Hall, a woman who escapes everyone and everything she has ever known, in order to make a life for herself that is free of fear and abuse. She ends up settling in a rental property owned by one of the Coleman clan. She meets others in the area through Trevor Coleman, a good-looking rancher that just happens to drive by her new place as she is attempting to fix its leaky roof. One thing leads to another and they become more than just neighbors. They are an amazing couple both in and out of the bedroom. I really liked both Becky and Trevor. Becky is a strong character and her ability to start from scratch is truly a remarkable undertaking. I felt her sorrow and despair more times than I care to count, however, Ms. Arend beautifully balances it out with the independence and confidence that Becky is slowly discovering. Trevor is a patient and wonderful man that will do whatever he can to help Becky become the woman she wants to be. He is a fun guy, especially when he freely offers the usage of his truck to anyone who may need a ride. Overall, this is a well-written and absorbing narrative. The secondary characters add some fun moments to a story-line that is quite deep at times. I am a fan of this series and cannot wait to read the next book.
